Hi all! Its been pretty much YEARS since Ive tanked for a group with my Guardian. Ive always considered them my main, but i just pretty much soloed with them or was dps (I can hear your laughter from here). After being away from groups for so long and playing on alts, ive decided to get back into tanking again and was wondering what tips everyone could pass down to some one returning. I used to be an AMAZING tank (not to toot my own horn) back in the day, but its been so long and with all the changes done to the class I really dont want to make a fool of my self in front of a group. Im an 80 Guardian with my fabled epic and T1 shard armor so I have that going for me I guess, not that its much! Any info from any lvl guardian would be great and much appreciated! Thanks!

Try to always group with a dirge. Other than that just jump in and throw up your /lfg tag. Might want to make sure your AA setup doesn't suck too. Something like str: 4,4,5 agi: 4,4,8 sta: 4,4,8 int: 4,8,8,2,1 With EoF tree block, double attack, rescue reuse, reinforcement reuse, and the rest of your points in double attack line block line and decimate.

Basically what was said before and:

Get the best offhand you can (if the healer can keep you up DW).

Get in good with a decent raiding guild to get your myth updates (or buy them).

Try to avoid grouping with warlocks.

Like said before get a dirge but also try to get at least a coercer, swash or assassin as well (the more the merrier).

Avoid Befallen COA - like the plague.

Save up your shards until you can get at least 4 or 5 T2 pieces (the set bonuses on the tier 1 makes it better than a some of each).

Once you get your T2 armor try to find some people that will let you tag along on WOES runs to get your T3 (once again hold out for 3-4 pieces)

Run Deep Forge everytime it is the Hotzone and pray to the gods for a Burning Lava Stud (it's beautiful).

Run AoB everyday until you get the shield from in there (one of the best non-Raid shields around).

Get used to using snaps more often than ever before (it isn't you it's the game).

Reinforcement as often as you can when pulling group mobs then use your aoes (helps a heap).

That is all I can think of for now. Good luck and don't get too frustrated... If you do, play an alt or grind AA soloing until Febuary when hopefully help is coming.

Roll an SK - your a tank, mage, and ghetto warden all rolled into one. I just walk into rooms solo on my baby sk and roll my face across the keyboard and lvl up - after all these years as a guardian I cannot advise anyone to roll a guardian on purpose these days.

Wait until the expansion before you decide to reroll. SF AAs are out there if you know where to look.
