I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but: I've seen two problems in signing up for the Sentinel's Fate beta.

First, the NDA presented is incomplete. It breaks off in the middle of a word, and doesn't contain any actual non-disclosure statements.

Second, the confirmation page says "An e-mail has been sent to the e-mail address you have provided. Please open the e-mail and click on the link provided to verify your e-mail address. If you have not verified your e-mail address, you may be blocked from accessing future e-mails." However, the email that was sent to me didn't contain a verification link.

any chance of an answer? i know if past experience holds up i wont get selected for beta (only one you guys let me in was the one guaranteed with fanfaire, and even then not untill 2 weeks before launch). but it would be nice to know my app at least went through.

There was a replay last week that said if your email was already verified then you would not see the link in the email. The reply in the same forum as the beta announcement.

Was there mention anywhere of when the next wave of beta invites would be going out? I remember Aeralik saying something about priest changes going in with the expansion and would really like to test those out and give feedback Not to mention testing the expansion, but there's quite a bit that seems to be going in not related to the expansion which is only being tested within beta...

If SOE had some more sense they would allow EVERYONE access to beta; sure to prevent all of the expansion being complete before it even launches they could either lock areas, limit leveling or limit playtime. I for one would be all for more testing. You KNOW as it stands they will bring in changes that people will hate or that are broken and then they will have to fix them. I suppose if they came out with a good product all at once they would have nothing else to do, besides (I dread to say) develop more content.

It is a shame, the only thing that motivated me to stay subscribed was the Beta. Now my account time is just ticking away. I think they will find others that feel the same way.

I am sure they have some sort of organized method of selecting who gets into BETA. Could we at least get an e-mail that says "so sad you lose" or something? I would rather be told I lost than sit in limbo not nowing if I may get selected in the future.

If the massive amount of flaws at release of expansions/GUs is any indication of how people DO NOT feedback. It would be best to get in people that will test out everything. Don't blame the people on test or those who beta test the expansions. I've seen many posts from these people over the years stating that they do, in fact, report all kinds of issues that are inevitably still present at the launch of the LU/beta. Throwing more people at the beta won't change the fact that the LU/expansions are rushed out the door due to time constraints on the Devs.

Wouldn't it?

Yes IF it was simply a "x number of people will be selected by date y" proposition. This is not the case though. Through some sort of mysterious process they gradually "ramp up" the number of beta players that are not sure fire Fan Faire invites (a thing I have issue with because it rewards people simply for paying money really to attend an event, not actually showing a history of contructive /bug /feedback and I thought Betas were there to work the bugs out of things not to reward fan bois).

My guess is they do a rolling lottery process like jury selection. They get to a certain section of the queue, select and when its time to select more then you move onto the next queue section when its time to select more. Because of this it would be nice to know if they have passed your queue. Is it necessary? No likely not, but simply because something is not necessary does not make it unappreciated or preferred either.

I see there's been a lot of discussion of the email issue, but I'm actually a lot more concerned with the incomplete NDA. I think SOE ought to be concerned about that as well: I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that you can't be held to any terms that they meant to put in but for some reason didn't.

In short, anybody who signed up for the beta didn't actually agree not to disclose anything.

I think the issue people are concerned about is that they are not receiving any email at all, including the initial one that is supposed to confirm that you signed up. I signed up and never got any email of any kind, even though my address is confirmed when I sign in to my account. This same thing happened when I made a refer-a-friend account a couple of months ago. It was supposed to send an email with a link for the "friend" but it never did/or I never got it. I use roadrunner for email, so maybe there is some kind of problem with roadrunner accounts...

copy your eq2 folders into the beta folder and the download time drops drastically.

and wow, giving people multiple invites on same accts or different accts and still cant address those of us who did not get the link to confirm our email...

Nope. Still no invite. Been playing for many years now, and have NEVER gotten an invite to a beta. I must not be good enough.

just a thought but why dont they use the regular signin client to register users for beta and also for notifying for acceptance.

It really wouldnt be that hard to build a small app into the client. When you sign it your verifying your account details.

You get a notification that signup for beta is open please click here. It registers your info and sends it the signup roster.

If your approved you get an alert and maybe even an ingame mail letting your know along with any regular email trails.

Lethe5683 wrote:

As of the other day I have gotten my third beta invite. (I only have one account)

You've gotten three invites for this beta? Nice. Others have stated that they have also gotten multiple invitations to this beta. Wonderful. Typical incompetent approval process. Some people get multiple invitations for the current beta while others, who have been playing for years, have never been invited into a beta. I would really like to know who's running the department that decides who gets in and who doesn't. Not to mention tracking who has already received an invitation. Probably a former employee of Apple's iPhone app approval board.

Seems like I have been waiting forever too...the anticipation is driving me crazy...I check my email atleast 10 times a day(yes,I have a very dull life atm, lol) but I hear about people who signed up well after me getting multiple invites

I believe they were just finding out who was interested in signing up for it. I recently got my email with a download link for the Beta but the last several days it shows the server as being down. The Char select screen shows everything as Red and in a "Down" status.

Any idea when the server will be up? I did a /copy to copy my char over for the beta server and it shows up when I sign in. Am I missing something here?

Sonnyboy 80 Coercer

For everyone saying that it says you got in, you got into the pool to be selected it doesn't mean you got selected unless you get the actual download emial.

I got the same though i believe this new process can be good but more bad. Lots of hardcore players didn't get an invite when new players i know of 4 that even stopped playing got in it. From having accounts since day 1 I would think that we should get loyalty advantage but im sure they learned from it with the amount and emails and posts I have seen. Not saying those people are better but usually they have higher chars, multiple accounts and more interest in a new level cap. Eh just my 2 cents good luck to everyone!

I got my original email. then actually got 2 emails the othe day with the download link, and the instructions for the download. Prior to the download I /beta add my 3 characters I wanted copied to beta, 1 from Test server and 2 from Nagafen. It was all in all about a 3 1/2 hour download, following the instructions to the letter . Once I logged in to character select on Beta I noticed that the server for characters copied said "DOWN" in big red letters. I am wondering if I have to "create" a toon on beta for my characters to show up like I did on test.

I'm kind of sittin here scratching my head wondering why our Welcome to EQ2 message of the day is still saying its not too late to sign up for beta yet there are SO many people who have been signed up for a month now who still have not been accepted. Can we not let those who have been signed up for awhile get in?
