View Full Version : Spirit Tap - Ninja Nerf?

<p>I was just throwing this out there but I think there was an intentional/unintentional nerf of the Mythical Spirit Tap.  We have already seen this ability nerfed before.  I have spoken with several Mystics on my server and they all agree this has occured.  So - Whats up?</p>

<p>I have seen some evidence that perhaps there has been an "adjustment" to Spirit Tap.  The unfortunate answer is that we will never know for sure.  Spirit Tap is a very "vague" effect, there are no hard numbers on it to look at and go "Oh, that is less than it used to be."  We have to resort to simply observation of the overall effect.</p><p>Here is my observation:</p><p>In prior months, I quite often coordinated Spirit Tap with a Necro who I run around with.  The recast on Lifeburn and Spirit Tap are quite similar, and with proper coordination, a Necro will not need any additional healing while Lifeburning during Spirit Tap.  This frees me up to, you know, heal the tank.</p><p>Anyway, over the last week I've had the opportunity to play my Mystic a bit with the Necro, and Spirit Tap no longer seems to be enough in and of itself.  I need to toss out a group heal, and sometimes a small direct on the Necro.</p><p>Again, this is just my observation.  I have no hard evidence of an adjustment.  Unfortunately, I can't give any hard evidence because we have nothing to base it on.  It "feels" like there may have been an adjustment.</p>

<p>I checked my parses over the last month for Anashti etc and spirit tap seems to be going off for about the same amount each time.  I compared last night to one from 3 weeks ago and the amounts for spirit tap were pretty close. DPS was pretty close on both fights.</p>

<p>It could have been a ninja nerf.  Although, it seems that server lag can also be a factor in decreasing the amount Spirit Tap heals.  </p><p>On some nights when server lag is bad due to other raids being in the same zone or w/e, and the Necro in my group burns, I still have to single target heal him quite a bit even though Spirit Tap is active.  Spirit Tap functions off of DPS output from the group.  My theory is that maybe the DPS output of the Necro, or other players, gets slightly delayed due to the lag and doesn't get translated into heals as quick as it would if the server wasn't lagging.</p>

<p>I have tried to figure out what has happened but I have not found out what it is.  I have cast Spirit Tap as a test a few times on single target raid mobs and yes there is both healing and mana regn but it seems that there is less of the mana regen on the Mystic.  I am doing as much dps as before but some thing is off.</p><p>Was there a change in the combat system?  In addition to this I seem to be casting just slightly slower.  I have a High speed internet connection with no lag on a fast machine so I don't think that lag is the issue here.  Also, it seems like my Warden is casting just ever so slightly slower as well and its not a matter of group make up either.  I think I am just missing something that was changed.</p><p>Any other ideas what might be causing this?</p>
