I heard that Sony got rid of level locking, but I still see greys two-shotting players ten levels above them. How are they doing this if they're forced to level normally? Can you still lock mob, quest and discovery XP then? If so, that's hardly getting rid of level locking, lol. So I guess they're doing this and piling up tons of AAs or something, too, at the same basically locked fight level they're at for months then?

I understand that some players love staying on the same map for months on end like the proverbial hampster in the wheel, but I like leveling normally and continually having new land under my feet. Every time I come back to this game I wind up leaving again for other PvP MMO games because, unless I want to freeze my character in time and twink it to death for months, I feel like I will never have a chance to be any sort of a success in PvP.

It's depressing-- I used to love this game back when KoS first launched and I was so happy to have open PvP servers in EQ2. I don't mind getting killed by players many levels above me, but it's just a total bummer to think I don't even stand a chance against players ten levels below me. Sheesh.

And I was so excited for Frostfell, too! I have seen both on gaming forums and amongst my friends that there are so many people who say they have left this game over this same issue, I'm surprised it has never been rectified. With all the PvP server merges/closings you'd think Sony would take another look at this issue. I really wish they would.

In other PvP MMOs like Aion, etc., where level locking of any sort isn't allowed, you never hear anyone pining away for it in the chat. In fact, in open PvP games like Eve Online, people think you're nuts if you're not leveling as fast as you can, every moment you can, even waking up nights etc. to switch your trainings so you don't lose a minute, rofl. And I'll bet those games have a lot more PvPers than this one does.

I wish Sony would kinda wake up about this issue once and for all. Any chance of this ever happening? I don't know if Sentinel's Fate's AA slider is going to be enough to even the chances for the non-twink-obsessed, or just make the problem even worse.

You can't level lock in PvP, but you can still twink a character out (full mastercrafted, full masters, basically the best gear money can buy for a given level).

I should also mention that while you can't level lock you CAN decide to level up very slowly. You can disabled quest and combat XP (you still get XP from PvP kills with combat XP locked) and you can convert half of the PvP XP you gain into AA XP. All this results in a very slow leveling process, but still quick enough that you can gain a few levels in a day doing nothing but PvPing.

You can of course still do AA runs. It's not very hard to do all the AA runs at level 10 and end up with 30 AA before you really start to level.

You can at least take solace in knowing that a lot of these twinks are typically spending tonnes of plat just so they can do almost nothing but kill questers and the odd twink they find around.

'Level Locking' was a term used to describe locking at a level to PvP. So in that sense, yes, level locking was removed.

---Bold Part 2---

Like I said above, if you wanna stay locked at the same level for months, you're not gonna be doing much PvP at all. It is generally used to accumulate good aa, yes - but that doesn't take months. You can get cap AA for any level in any tier below tier 8 in no time.

---Bold Part 3---

Uh, good for you? Once you've leveled 4-5 toons to 80, plus a bunch of random alts to t6-t7, there is no 'new land under your feet.' Leveling gets dull after you've knocked out a good 600 or 700 levels. This is generally why people used to make little locked PvP alts, to have fun with a toon that you can gear/aa up and compete/have fun with little effort - unlike t8. It takes for EVER to be able to compete at t8 (well, it did, before they handed out free pvp gear. Kinda invalid now.)

---Bold Part 4---

If you need to freeze your character for months to be able to compete, you need to find another game. Any tier below 8, all you need is mastercraft to rock face.

---Bold Part 5---

If you're losing to a single player 10 levels below you, I don't know what to tell you. Getting mastercraft is simple, and even average AA should be fine if your gear is acceptable.

---Bold Part 6---

Aion, and the other games you listed don't punish you for leveling as fast as you can. Everquest 2 does. Your argument is 100% invalid, by that fact alone. You need SOME aa, and DECENT gear to even bother playing on a PvP server on everquest, and leveling your combat level at lightning speed isn't gonna get that for you.

You're entitled to your opinions, of course. But just know they're rather silly.

I saw a toon that was 7 lvls higher than me, he was red to me. I was 12 and he was 19. I looked at the armour he was wearing, guessed that his tradeskill lvl was under 20 and took at face value the arnour he was wearing was what it was. Mixed T1/T2 treasured gear from TD. Since that was what he was wearing, I also assumed barely any spell upgrades. I did not one shot him, it was 3, my zerker and his guardian. I am in mc armour, weapons and jewellry, more than half masters and the rest expert spells with 16 AA at the time I think.

I got all my masters from killing the named in the graveyard/ruins/caves and WC, the rest I harvested rares and made them. I also harvested my rares for my armour and jewellery and had a guildie make them for me.

I did buy 2 hex dolls, great price :0)

I am lvl locked but killing toons in pvp gives me exp. I mostly kill while solo, I gain lvls very fast, I made another post about it because I love to quest and hate out growing areas.

I see that I rambled on, my point, gear. If I see a red in poor gear under 20, I am going to attack and most likely kill. Even if someone is red and within 10 levels of me depending on the gear, I will attack. I actuall soloed a trio in KP 2 months ago. This toon of mine was 75, they were 80/74/72, I think maybe one was afk on auto follow, not sure but I killed all 3.

Just because they are lower lvled, grey and/or grouped doesnt mean they are cant kill or even one shot you.
