so to give you all a back story i made my necro alt to have an uber toon that could be self sufficent, solo anything and everything that came my way and not need a healer or tank. Necro seemed perfect for the most part. the reason i wanted a toon that could do this is my friend rolled an alt ranger. this ranger out damaged my main (dirge) was better in pvp than my main and could solo better. We are both fairly equal players but his massive snares and burst dps from range without being squishy made him very formidable for both solo and pvp, plus his high dps made him valued in groups or on raids. i was already desired by groups and raids being a dirge but pvp was not my strong point with that toon nor was soloing. so now here i am 3 weeks later with an 80 necro in full t2 shard gear TSO shard and raid jewlery and my epic. once i got all this great stuff i decide to go solo a zone most couldnt. i solo the shard of fear and it takes e a little while but i do it. this zone is from previous expansion, and is a lower level zone... i told my friend i soloed SOF and he replies saying he soloed OOA in the same amount of time it took me. his reward was much greater too... he got 2 masters 12 plat and 3 collecables that go for 3+ plat on broker. plus some legendary gear

all i can say to this is [Removed for Content]. and was i wrong in making my necro to counter his [Removed for Content] out ranger? where is my toon that can just tool on everything and excell at everything? (no i will not make an SK)

i saw a video on youtube of an amazingly geared bruiser soloing the OOA also just by running in and beating the snot out of everything in there. so far a few rangers and this one bruiser are the only people i know of who can solo this zone, any necros out there done it?

Assuming you can clear the trash in the first room, than OoA shouldn't be too tough to solo for a necro. With your fighter pet and some gear and AA to enhance his survivability he should be able to take the hits of all the mobs in the zone pretty well and you can provide the healing/DPS.

I wouldn't worry about your new necromancer not being able to do what a well geared person who knows his class well can. Give it some time, get some gear and AA, learn the mechanics of the class down to a tee and you should be able to solo pretty well on a necro.

Some tips that could help:

1. After clearing the first room most people who can solo the zone easily train straight to the room with name that bounces you up in the air. This is usually done with a brawler or a scout/fighter who has some kind of Feign Death (either a class skill or something tinkered usually). I doubt a squishy necro could just train this so you would probably be stuck clearing to the next name.

2. The main trick with the "bouncing" named is that you need to pop the bubbles, this name does extremely little targetted damage. You would probably be best off having your fighter pet tank this while you popped bubbles. Getting spells off would be tricky, you may have to land in order to cast, which might get you in trouble later on in the fight when the bubbles come faster. A cfighter or a scout has a huge advantage when it comes to soloing this name as they can use their combat arts while moving.

3. The last name is tank and spank, stop attacking when he emotes that he has put his damage shield up (cosma-shield form).

OOA is soloable by a necro. The only problem is the named with the bubbles the rest is extremely easy. Actually we duo ooa and aob with a wizzy every day, cause it only takes us a few minutes that way and there are no problems with the bubbles either.
