Please remember that registering for the beta program does not guarantee admittance. It only puts you into the pool from which we will randomly select participants. Also, in order to participate, you must agree to our <a href="http://soe-ing.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/soe_ing.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23348" target="_blank">Non-Disclosure Agreement</a> (we send ninja monkeys after you if you leak info before the NDA is lifted) and have an account in good standing. <a href="https://account.station.sony.com/authenticated/beta/betaRegistration.action?betaId=5" target="_blank">Click here</a> to go to the registration page and accept the terms of the <a href="http://soe-ing.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/soe_ing.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23348" target="_blank">NDA</a>. We will send you an email letting you know if you've been selected with all the information you need to get set up and ready to go. There will also be a link to the beta forums for you to give us your feedback. If you attended Fan Faire, you will be admitted into the beta program. You must still register and accept the NDA, however. So please make sure that you click the link and register with the account that you registered for Fan Faire. Character Copies In order to have your character copied to the beta sever after you've been accepted, please log into the character you wish to have copied and type /beta. We'll do periodic copies. Kiara, I go through the process to register for beta, but when I get the confirmation email, it doesn't have a link to verify my email address. The beta signup page says there will be a link. Is there supposed to be a link?

My husband is getting an error saying he has an inactive subscription. His subscription is pending, but is paid up through 03/11/2010. Is this normal or are there just too many people trying to sign up right now?

Waiting on the email right now.You can verify your email address through the My Account link up at the top of the forums as well. I also cannot sign up for beta because my subscription isn't "active". I am paid through until the end of December. I cancel after each month to prevent the automatic billing, as I don't prefer that in case I forget about it, or something comes up.

Hmmm. Well then, it's entirely possible that you can /beta without being accepted. If you can't right now... give it a little bit. Then try again <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />If you go to the My Account bit and check to make sure that your email is verified, don't worry if there's no link in the email you get. I haven't seen that there's an issue, but I'll continue to check into it.I'll ask about the inactive subscription issue and see what I can find out.

Ok, the error message is indeed due to the subscription being "Pending". I finally got it to take a one month sub for the husband's account and it let him sign up. Expiration date of your current subscription plan apparently doesn't matter at all, just whether or not your account is actively signed up for a sub (which yes, is annoying... his expiration isn't even until March).

Yeah I get the same issue. I paid using a gamecard and it shows inactive when I try to register. I did notice that when you use a gamecard it shows time as pending which is odd.

i wanted to preempt a possible issue with the people on the european servers not being able to /beta. it is currently disabled on splitpaw and has been since this post went up and i registered. just so you know and it wont be a issue for us people out here to beta the next xpac also.

I was reading the NDA, since I considered signing up. What strikes me is this:(4) You acknowledge that SOE may, in its discretion, charge a fee for the Beta Software and/or participation in the Beta Program, and your participation in the Beta Program is contingent on your payment of such fee(s);Can you disclose what the fee will be? The fee thing has been there since the beginning , almost every game that has had a beta has had that in their NDA at one time. Its a hold over from way back when games sometimes charged you to have the discs sent to you, before downloading at high speeds was available. It's something that could be taken out of the NDA now ; but like much legalese, stuff isn't usually removed. Also not having to verify your email again , if it is already verified is normal, there will be no link , It was the same with the EQ1 Beta this year.

I'm in the same boat as all the others that don't have an e-mail verification link. E-mail account is verified under My Account, but one minor thing. Under My Profile the e-mail that is listed there is an old, no longer valid asddress. Okay so i registered. They mentioned a link in an email.. However logic tells me if my email is verified im fine and shouldnt get a link.. However once i get accepted to beta that email should have a link... This leads me to my next question. will there be an announcement when the accepted to beta email will be sent out?? I get this message after verifying email: Inactive Subscription for EverQuest II You do not have an active subscription to this game on your account. An active subscription is required to participate in the Beta. To subscribe to this game, click the button below.

I'll have to check and see if I can announce it, I'll let you know.From what I'm understanding from all of your posts, if you use game cards or cancel between sub renewals to avoid the recurring charge it will show your account as inactive. There is nothing that I can do to affect that and you'll need to contact CS (billing) to see how this can be remedied. My apologies for not being able to fix this for you.

Got my email.As I understand it, this is how it works:As long as your email is verified already, you will not get a link to verify your email address.If you still are in need of verification of your email, then a link will show up.Once you are, errr, IF you are accepted into beta, THAT is when you will get an email with a link to the beta forums in addition to...ehhh....the ability to /beta a character onto the beta test server.Testing should be firmed up and ready to rock by like....next week....Okay. I am going to go eat turkey leftovers until I go comatose for the next 5 days or so.

Is there a place we can go to download the beta client before hand, or a trick to getting the download done faster? I know people were able to bypass a lot of the time by copying the game file and renaming it, then running the beta patcher through it.That whole process seemed a little candid for most people, so if there is a trick to it, would like to know ahead of time <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Re: PvPThere will not be a separate PvP server for beta. When we need to test PvP things, we will most likely flip the server as we do with the Test-Copy server.

I'm biting my nails... I got in to the Shadow Odysey beta... then ended up unfortunately in the hospital (all good now, no worries!) for all but like half a week of it, and thus I think I might have sent in one test bug/feedback report. I hope that won't hang too over my shoulder in this... I wonder how much attention is paid to former beta testers and what they submitted.I meant to do better, I really really did! =/ I tested Vanguard well, I promise! /waves around a little flag

Y'all might want to change the subject of the confirmation email... It says "Welcome to the Beta," which might make some folks think they're already in. Of course, I actually READ the email and saw that it says "If you are selected" at the bottom.I tested the original game and the first two expansions before a rather long hiatus, hopefully I'll get to test this one as well.

I followed the instructions, extracted the .exe to the Eq2beta folder, and tried to run the exe.When I attempt to log in, I get "You do not have a Everquest 2 subscription" dialogue. I also cannot see the beta forums, as linked in the acceptance email. Sooo, how do I get my email addy verified so I can sign up for the beta? Went through the process, was told email address isn't verified. Yes mystfit if you bought a ticket to fanfaire you will get in Beta wether you went or not, the same with the day one download for fanfaire attendees. You also have the Eq1 beta which is ending soon and the Eq1 all in one when that expansion launches.

You can even copy a character multiple times (additional copies will have X, XX, etc. added to the name). Note though, that you will only be able to see a maximum of 7 (or more if you have station access) characters on the character select list at a time, and once you fill that up you won't be able to create any new characters for testing with (there's usually a beta buffer available for testing specific levels).

When you signed up for Beta you may have noticed the start date is listed as 12/14/09, so odds are they have not started sending out batch invites yet.If you did not get an email after you signed up, be sure to check your account and make sure it's right there, and then check your email host/program and make sure @soe.sony.com is not filtered into spam or trash.The first email was just "Hi, you signed up!"

I did not read the many pages of this thread so perhaps this has been covered already. If so, please forgive the repetition.I just wanted to mention in case it is helpful to anyone, that while I was paying via Gamecard, the page did not recognize me as having a subscription since actually I didn't even though I pay this way each month. I had been wanting to do Station Access to revisit old EQ and newer Vanguard anyway even though my preferred home is in EverQuest II now. So, I paid for that and tried again just to see if that was the issue for me personally.I was able to apply with no problem at all once I had paid for a recurring Station Access subscription.So perhaps game cards and also perhaps segments of time over a month paid in advance are a problem? Aside from the fan fare is it a completly random who is let in?.. I know someone who has had all 4 of their accounts activated for beta, and others who are as lucky with multiple accounts.... It just seems frustrating when others may have been more active in previous betas and gave valuable feedback put into a lottery of random numbers as others who may just log on once or not at all or even others with multiple accounts.Is there a way you can improve your chances of partipating in beta?

Just to give some credentials for my consideration into Beta.I have done the armor quest 3 times. Chain everytime and always a good guy.At my work, I am Alpha Geek. I have mondo experience installing memory and network interface cards. I also regularly assert my nerd dominance over the other people by telling them their computers are the worst I have ever seen. And if it were my choice I would stick it in a sack and drown it in the river.I only do quests that have written guides with pictures. So when testing I would be limited to only those quests with guides. ***Guides MUST have spoilers.I know alot of the content will be higher level, but I only want to play my level 10 bruiser who is locked down for AA's. I know the AA's wont transfer to live, but I want to test what trees I want to use points for on live.I don't do anything for free. So, in lieu of a cash payment I will accept payment in the form of Pixie Stix. I am told Kiara has no issues with holding onto them till I make my way to San Diego.I think thats about it...some qualifications of mine, and what I expect.I will be eagerly watching my mailbox for the next five minutes. Please try to get that invite to me in that time. Otherwise I can't be bothered.Robo

I've done a lot of Beta Testing, some MMO stuff, but much of it for a firm that makes Ancient World City Building games. If anyone on the forums got a whiff you were in Beta, your life was a misery of PMs and veiled threats etc in the forums from those demanding information against our NDA. People who attended Fan Faire should get flagged normally. You have to make sure you've accepted the NDA, or your flagging will fail.It does take some time between getting flagged and getting the email to synch correctly... It's been two weeks since you accepted the NDA.Two very different things.I understand that your expectation was to be automagically flagged the day we announced that registration had started, but that is not and never has been the case, and I know for certain that I never said it would be.Unfortunately, yes, the dates conflicted. We started letting people in on the 14th. I posted that the first round of invites went out on the 14th.Thus, folks who got emails on the 14th, should not panic if everything hadn't synched the moment they read that email. What Kiara is saying is exactly correct, basically there can be a few days lag between the email invite and your account being flagged, as was the case with earlier expansions. (basically if you get the beta invite in 5minutes, you might not be able to get into the beta forums, or start patching the expansion until the weekend)The email you got auto-sent to you when you signed up for beta is NOT the beta invite. Its the confirmation that you registered for the beta pool and a CHANCE to get an invite. It was a bit confusing because the title of that email was 'Welcome to the Beta' but the content of the email was clear in that you were just in the pool. The content of that email was: "We would like to thank you for registering for the EverQuest® II Sentinel's Fate beta. Beta testing is important to each product launch, and your help is greatly appreciated. Currently, beta is scheduled to begin on December 8th , 2009. The date of our beta program is subject to change. If you are selected to participate in the EverQuest® II Sentinel's Fate beta, an acceptance email will be sent to this email address"The first invites went out on Monday afternoon, and a few additional ones went out Monday night.If earlier expansion beta invites are any indication, those emails would probably have had a subject of something like: "EverQuest(r) II Sentinel's Fate(tm) Beta"And would have started out with text something like:"Dear Beta candidate, We are pleased to offer you an invitation to the Beta version of the EverQuest II Sentinel's Fate expansion. No...Unless you got it on Monday... the email you got said that you'd been accepted as a registrant into the pool.Not that you'd been accepted into the program.That is a separate email.You get two emails. One when you accept the NDA and are registered for the beta program.A second if/when you get accepted into the program. The second email will contain the information you need to download.There will be no question in your mind if you've been accepted.

If you got the "welcome to the beta" email (not the actual congratulations you got i nto the beta email), does that mean you accepted the NDA?I'm pretty sure I clicked on the NDA acceptance and when I clicked on Kiara's link I saw nothing further that I could click on to accept it. I do have the Welcome to Beta email that you get when you register, but I have no NDA acceptance email.

If you attended Fan Faire and followed directions and accepted the NDA, you should have your beta email now.If you didn't accept the NDA, you didn't get flagged.If you HAVE accepted the NDA and don't see your email, make sure to check your junk/spam folder as the emails sometimes get waylaid into the junk pile.

Sorry if this is the wrong place but what's going on with Character Transfers to Beta? On the first day we could do /beta copy, I did it. I logged into Beta and all I see is a list of my other toons with (server down) next to them. So I created a new toon on Beta hoping it would act like it does on Test and the transferred toon would show up..... but no luck. Then I thought maybe I couldn't see him because all 4 character slots were taken up. So I deleted my new toon and now I just have the old 3 from live.Not sure what I'm doing wrong.Oh... I did another /beta copy yesterday.

If you get the email that says congratulations, etc etc etc - you have accepted the NDA. For some reason the email wording for that is just... wonky.If you want to check to make sure your email is verified, click on the my account link at the top of the forums and go to account information. It will tell you if your email is verified and let you verify it if it isn't.

Can you identify the sender of the beta acceptance email? Just want to make sure it does not get sucked into my spam filter. Also, in the off chance you accidentally trash an acceptance email, is there any other way to check your acceptance?

I would like to know the answer to the previous poster's questions as well. The wording on my account page suggests I am accepted into beta (saying I am 'enrolled' in beta), I can /beta copy and so forth. However, I cannot find an email and simply want to know either way..as well as receive the email properly. That way, I'll be one less slavering fan posting. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Thanks for all the help so far..it's greatly appreciated.

I clicked the registration link and signed the NDA and got this message:You have succesfully enrolled in the Beta for this account. Please check your e-mail for information regarding this Beta. Thank you for your participation!However I haven't recieved an email with any information yet.

You are only Enrolled in the chance to enter beta. When you sign the NDA it send an email saying you are enrolled, but it is just worded poorly. You have not yet gotten into beta. If you get a second email saying you got into beta, then you got in.

How do we know for sure about invites? I understand the second mail that comes in but my email is also used by my wife and I am affraid it got deleted out of my junk folder as I have seen many an eq2 mail go there........I can /beta in game so I dont know if that is an indicator of being accepted. I registered for the beta and had it set to add a new game card when my current one ends. It switched over on Jan 1 and now my account is back to pending. Do I need to get CS to change it back to Active. When I contacted CS they said I didn't need to. I was sure someone said the account had to remain active to get chosen. Is this correct?

Hiya well my acceptance email apeared in my inbox day before yesterday,so after downloading and logging in im hitting a problem.I petitioned and was told a day later they were unable to fix the problem and gave me the link to this forum post,so il post it here knowing full well this isent the place to post it .once the beta registration went live i like many others signed up got the 1st email and waited, but i also /beta my 80 toons over ready for the day i would be .The day arrived day before yesterday i followed the second email coppied eq2 folder downloaded beta patch ect and logged in ...Now i see my /beta coppied toons stood their screaming at me to enter them into the the expansion but whats this next to each toon i see in red offline server(down) no option to play them delete them only to spin them about in a merry dancenew toons can be created and played .So i petitioned for these 4 toons in limbo to be either deleted from offline server or moved to beta server. i was told they couldnt hellp and was sent here .il not hold my breath waiting for somthing to happen from this post but was just following gm instructions

There's a specific file in your Beta folder you need to delete to clear the cache of which char's the char select screen sees. I think tis something like (your username/login)_characters.ini ?

Something is slowing down the invites after the initial wave. For ROK and TSO I was in closed beta very quickly when it became available. For SF, however, still no invite.When is the date for beta becoming an open beta, and when will raid content be available to test in beta?

For everyone saying that it says you got in, you got into the pool to be selected it doesn't mean you got selected unless you get the actual download email.I got the same though i believe this new process can be good but more bad. Lots of hardcore players didn't get an invite when new players i know of 4 that even stopped playing got in it. From having accounts since day 1 I would think that we should get loyalty advantage but im sure they learned from it with the amount and emails and posts I have seen. Not saying those people are better but usually they have higher chars, multiple accounts and more interest in a new level cap. Eh just my 2 cents good luck to everyone!

when do the invites usually go out, i.e Monday, Tuesday ect. or can it be any day of the week. I know with other xpacs they would always go ouit on a Tuesday.
