Hey guys,

I had the game at release and I just started playing again, and I wanted to make a really strong solo character so I did some research and went with the inquisitor.

I'm going to be going Yaulp, first 4 attacks in battle to 5, and battle cleric for my first 22 aa, then 4-4-8 in sta and 4-4-8 in agi.

My question is I'm trying to keep 50% aa slider while I go through my teens to get as much AA as possible, since it seems battle cleric relies on those - are there any areas you can bounce back and for in the 20s+ like you can with gorowyn and neriak?

What stats should I looke for in gear? Just mainly +str +wis?

Last any big pieces of equipment, questlines etc I should make sure I hit on my way up?

If you are going to be soloing, I would highly recommend the str line for Steadfast as it *drastically* cuts down on the amount of interrupted heals which is crucial. Kelethin (Greater Faydark) is another of those 1-20 areas you can visit. Str and wis are the main stats to worry about, yes, sta helps and possibly int too though I wouldn't put that as high priority. As far as questlines...not really...save for the exception of the Heritage Quest Training is a Shield , lvl 40, in Zek as it gives a nice buckler for you to use. I'm sure there are probably more that give good rewards as far as armor and crush weapons go, but can't really recall any personally.

Hope this helps!

First of all, welcome back to EQ2.

I am also in the proces of leveling an Inquisitor, my AA setup is similar to yours and I found it very effective. Make sure you get a 2 handed weapon with a high damage spread, to take advantage of your melee crit, and preferably a slow one (This alows you to get of a spell/heal or a couple of CAs between swings). Master Crafted weapons are great for this, but can be hard to find these days as low level rares are quite expensive, a hand crafted weapon with a cheap adorment is a cheap and safe bet.

As for level 20+ zones. You have 3 overland zones in the 20-30 range. Thundering Steppes, Nek Forest and Butcherblock Mountains (BBM actually covers 20-35).

As mentioned your AAs look good, once you reach 60 AA I strongly recomend putting 5 points in Litany of Combat in your TSO tree as it will improve your melee attacks even further.

As for stats, STR should be your primary focus for solo play, WIS for healing. Personaly I get two sets of handcrafted armor, one for solo, one for grouping as they are pretty cheap. Be on the lookout for drops/quest rewards with stuff like + attack speed, + CA damage and +heal amount.

Good luck and have fun

(I made a post in the Mystic forum about a month ago regarding low level melee spec gear. See the copy below.)

Up until the 50's, I wore a mixed set of plate armor. Depending on my needs, I would wear 3-4 pieces of caster plate and the rest in dps plate. However once I hit the 50's, I switched out my Str/Agi/Sta dps plate for Str/Sta/Int plate. In hind sight, this combination works better.

For my weapon, I was using a Str/Sta/Wis 2-hander. Though once I hit the 50's, I switched to a Str/Wis 2-hander.

My jewelry set up was a bit odd. Up until the 50's, I wore all of the jewelry that I could find off of the broker that had +CA / +Spell damage. (AKA jewelry that grants both damage bonus types on a single piece.) In the lower levels, the bonus damage gave me more benefits than the raw stat increases. It didn't even matter if I wasn't as particularly thrilled about the stats. As long as I could continue to increase my bonus values, that was all that counted. (Though as an exception to this rule, I always wore MC rings. I used the Str ring for the +DPS proc and the Wis ring for the +Ordination proc.)

The once I hit the 50's, things changed. By that point, the benefits from using MC jewelry had finally exceeded the benefits of my junk dps jewelry. My auto attack damage and +DPS bonus had finally gotten significant enough that I wanted all of the Str that I could get. As a result, I switched to the MC +DPS symbol and used all Str/Agi/Sta dps MC jewelry. By just getting Wis from (4) pieces of caster plate, my +DPS symbol, weapon, and Wis ring, I had enough power to operate on. (Though I was also getting power through a Phantom Shod adornment and my Inquisitor mana stealing proc.)

My only advice is to make sure that you're +DPS is as high as possible. Keep up with using a +DPS neck adornment at every gear tier. Then when you feel that you're able, switch to using the +DPS MC symbol as well. (Also on the adornment front, the +Heal glove adornment also heals you run on less power. The same can go for the MC +Heal / +Spell symbol if you're really hurting for power.)

For my hex dolls, I always use the Str and Sta ones when soloing. The Str attack speed debuff and the Sta physical mitigation debuff let me mow through ^^^ named mobs.
