I have been experiencing several CTDs over the past few days, since last Wed/Thurs. Originally, the game would crash after 1-2 seconds of hard drive thrashing, more recently it has just been an instant CTD with no activity at all. Most of the CTDs have had no error message, though I did get an out of memory error once yesterday.

Specs are:

Windows XP

Intel 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz cpu

4 gigs of ram

Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS, running driver version 186

Increasing the size of the paging file (system managed) seemed to make the crashes less frequent, but I am still only going 45 minutes to an hour and a half before I crash again.

Copy/paste from dxdiag and other fun stuff to follow.

Ok, Dxdiag.txt and the relevant parts from MSinfo exceed the character limit. Hopefully the crash log is enough, if any other pertinant info from the other files is needed feel free to let me know, and thanks a ton for any advice from TSRs or players!

Based on your description, it certainly sounds like an issue with the hard drive or RAM. Have you tried running the disk defragmenter and error checking tools for the hard drive? Also, you may want to try removing a stick of ram and trying the game again, switching between the different sticks one at a time to see if a specific stick has gone bad.

If the problem persists at that point then I would advise posting your DXdiag file at least through the sound devices section. That should fit in a post easy and will give us most of the information we will need. Please let me know if you have any questions.
