I've returned after not playing for some time ( over a year ) ... stopped playing just before we hit VP with the raiding and such , mostly fabled out.

Need some guidance here ... there's alot of stuff on here and it all seems a little intimidating. What do i need to start looking at first in terms of gearing up for raids ?

Thanks

Just before VP?

Sounds like me from when I was returning - my recommendation is as follows:

1. Farm Void Shards until your eyes bleed and purchase your Tier 2 armor. This will keep you occupied for at least a week or three. In a lot of cases, you'll find that your raid gear doesn't hold up so well to the void armor. This expansion made a total mess of itemization and early RoK raid gear is a total joke as a result.

2. While doing so, make sure to run JWEA and Crucible to pick up so extremely relevant fabled charms from the last boss encounter in JWEA and The Master in Crucible. Guk 2/3 has some nice pre-raid gear as well.

3. While you're LFG, do all of the Moors quests. You probably need the AA, and that's one of the quickest ways to get about 10-13 of them.

By the time you've done all this, if you don't have a spot in a raid guild lined up, you can pickup raid Ward of Elements to upgrade your Tier 2 shard armor to Tier 3. However, keep in mind that with the expansion only about 70 days away, you might not get terribly geared out by the time the xpac rolls around and makes all of your gear essentially obsolete by level 90. With this in mind, you might just consider grinding out your AAs, securing a spot in a raid guild for next expansion.

I am a returning Ranger myself and that sounds like some good advice i might just work on shards till then to get the T1 set for fun

Also, I would make getting your mythical top priority if you don't already have it. They plan on making the effects on it carry over, but as a weapon itself it will be replaced by new equipment. I wouldn't be surprised if they make it easier to get some how once the expansion comes out, but might want to do it just in case.
