Hey everyone,

I am using a low end graphics card and have been having problems with audio dropouts while playing the game. I believe it is a conflict between my graphics card and external audio device.

How can I make the game less taxing on my graphics card? What display options can I change to go easier on my graphics card? Right now I am using the default settings.

I want to see if modifying the display setting will give me better audio performance.

Thanks,

Ryan

Original thread - http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=462897

To answer your question simply, the only thing that you can do to make the game less taxing on your graphics card, in game, is to lower the amount of video memory that the game uses. (This holds true for all graphics cards.)

The quickest way to do this, is to open the options menu and select 'Extreme Performance' from the drop-down menu in the perfomance tab. To further decrease the video memory usage move the texture resolution slider all the way to the left (minimum). Also, go to the textures tab and make sure all the settings there are set to minimum.

To think of it another way, the higher the resolution the more bytes of data must be stored in memory, and the more bytes of data must be processed by the GPU before being displayed.

Some video cards also have a separate set of controls that are specific to that card. If you have these, they are usually accessable through a menu item in the Start menu, or through the video settings in the Control Panel. (eg. ATI has a set of controls called the Catalyst Control Centre.)

These settings, such as Anti Aliasing (AA) and Antistropic Filtering (AF), operate as a final stage on the data in video memory, using the on card graphics processor/s, to send a smoother, less jagged image to the display. Disabling or minimizing these settings will further decrease the load on your graphics card.

I hope this helps,

BD

Besides the information posted above, you'll probably want to make sure that your drivers are updated as well. The most recent version is usually the best option unless you are using an Nvidia graphics card. If that's the case then I would advise using version 186 instead. Let us know if the issue persists at that point.
