Not quite, but I'm still curious. What is there to do at 80, and what do you need to do to get into it? From what I've learned so far, you can:

1. Mentor down to do old quests and cap your AA.

2. Raise your reputation with factions.

3. Raid

Is that all? If not, please let me know what else can be done. =) Also, regarding raiding.. how does a fresh 80 get into it? I keep eharing talks of shards and T1/T2 and it's all over my head. =/

Well how many AA have you? You should try to hit 80 with around 140 AA. I hit it with only 112 and I was hurting and dying a lot till I got the 140. Then I took off.

Have you started the Shard Quest stuff in Lavastorm? There's a solo daily shard there and 3 quests to kill elemental Lords for Elemental Essences you exchange on the dock for rings, earrings etc. Trader is beside the Faction metchant on LH of Shrine of Thunder Entrance as you look At the entance from the Bell.

Oh and there is a repeatable nice earner from killing the Brutes on the far part of the beach for a Quest giver also in the Shrine of Thunder.

Then there are the Shard runs. 3 zones I know of, but there are more, with daily shard quests with a double shard quest in Ykesha Moors at the landing.

Shards you collect to get T1 armor, then you collect them again and get a Guildie or someone to Custom Craft yor existing T1 armor plus more Shards into T2 armor. And then if you Raid you go get pattern opieces and those with yet more Shards and your T2 armor (I think this is what you need) get Custom crafted into T3 armor. But you gotta Raid or pay through the nose on the broker for patterns.

And do get a Guildie or Crafter to make all your shard armor as you save quite a few sharsds on the cost compared to going to the dealer on the docks at LS.

3 shard zones at Befallen in CL; Deep Forge and Najeena's Tower in Lavastorm; 3 at Everfrost.

Then there is the whole TSO time line quests, and all of the 2 or 3 zones in the Moors to do. There's your Epic then Mythical weapon to get.... Hey, that's a lot!

Not to mention the Rime questline in Kylong, JW and Kunzar Jungle....

My, my! Are we talking only level 80-specific things? There are SO many things to do in this game, how can they be counted! I mean, off the top of my head...

- Soloing- Grouping- Raiding- Crafting- Tinkering/Transmuting- Questing (Solo, Group, Raid, Heritage, Signature, Shard)- Gathering collectibles- Maxing certain factions of note (Maj'Dul, Brokenskull, etc.)- Aiming for achievements- Collecting titles- Exploring!

And then there are some of the slightly more 'obscure' or 'oddball' hobbies some people have. For example, collecting arena pets, katanas, or... books. Who collects books, though? Definitely not me. *cough*

Once you hit 80 you can also get started on your epic.

Well, what do I need to start raiding, or to get my epic? Do I need T2 to raid?

Some do, some don't. Guilds help their people get their Epics. If not in a Guild, seriously think of jjoining one, because PUGs can be unreliable and difficult to find for the specialized groups needed to do some of the steps to get the Epics. Guilds work on it as a policy, at least the good ones do.

VerranicusX wrote:

Well, what do I need to start raiding, or to get my epic? Do I need T2 to raid?

To get your Epic, look it up on the eq2 wiki. First part is solo/group quest to get the fabled version, then it's raiding to get the mythical version, well worth it. Also try to get some shards from the TSO zones so you can get some 'shard armor'. Check the merchants in Moors where the airship lands. While you are getting shards from the quests, make sure to pick up some jewlery from the heroic zones aswell. Now you are geared up for startup raiding... now you just have to find a raid guild (or start one yourself). That's of course if raiding is what you want to do.

But more than Holly Windstalker is that big white slug in The Caves. And if I could, Nathan Ironash and that guy in the bank. Oh, there are LOTS of candidates for, heh heh, REVENGE !!

VerranicusX wrote:

What is there to do at 80

The rest of the game.

The game is currently top-centric. Once you hit 80, there are 24 dungeons you can run which reward Void Shards. Between Questing and Mastercrafted gear, should be able to do the easiest dungeons. Each dungeon awards 2-4 void shards (there's a quest, and then a chest, and every day there is 1 zone that awards double shards).

Shard Gear

You need 38 shards to get your 6 pieces of T1 armor. You can get some pieces of jewelry with as little as 5 shards. It's another 112 shards to get your 6 pieces of T2 armor.

The easiest dungeons by far are:

Deep Forge

Scion of Ice

You can get shards in both zones without even killing a single Named mob.

The next easiest dungeons are:

Najena's Hollow

Crucible

Befallen: CoA

Even if you are unable to clear/defeat these zones, you will still get at least one void shard by completing the quest for that zone.

Other Ways to Gear Up

There is a solo quest you can repeat in Lavastorm 3 times a day, for 5 days, giving you 15 Crystals which you can turn in for a nice piece of jewelry as well. You must do a few quests for the Order of Flame people before they will offer this quest. "Cleansing the Elements", "More Cleansing the Elements", etc.

There is also a daily SOLO quest you can do in Lavastorm from the Order of Flame people which rewards 1 void shard. It takes about 20 minutes to do.

Find a Guild

I would try to find an understanding guild that is willing to help you out. Ask LOTS of questions and learn as fast as you can.
