I've been out of game for a bit due to suprise medical issues - but I had some time last night to sit down and play for the first time in maybe a month. Nothing has changed on my PC during this time and every other application (games or otherwise) continue to function as normal.

Here is my issue:

I play the game in full-screen mode. Last night as I was merrily playing along the screen suddenly flashed black and came back in Windowed mode. I was a bit surprised but simply Alt-Enter'd back to full screen. About 30 minutes later it again flashed black only this time the EQ2 client crashed at the same time.

A system reboot later I start playing again and once again it suddenly flashed and went windowed. I finished playing before another occurance of this so I don't know if it would have crashed again if it happened.

In any case, this is obviously odd and distressing behavior. Having been a Systems Administrator for the past 15+ years I'm pretty secure in my knowledge of PC's. I built this one in January and built another as a secondary over the weekend. Suffice to say, I know my stuff but have no idea what could cause this. I thought perhaps a rogue process was attempting to gain focus causing the shift, but nothing has changed on the PC as previously mentioned and I even ran through a few different virus scans just in case it was a 'surprise' task.

Champions Online doesn't do this (nor does anything else) and that essentially rules out the concept of a stuck ALT key or similar issue.

Any thoughts?

Greetings,

Are you using an Nvidia graphics card, and if so, are you using the 190 or 191 series drivers? The issue you're describing sounds like one of the problems we have been seeing with those specific driver versions. If you're using either one of those then I would advise reverting to the 186 series drivers for now.

I have a similar issue with my Nvidia 8200. I got a couple blue screens related to outdated video driver so I installed the 191 driver and the screen pops up into a semi-windowed mode look and seems like it will load, then doesn't & leaves my desktop all askew. I finally gave up and rolled my computer back to yesterday to the previous driver. I hope it is fixed because eventually we will have to install the new driver.

Yup - older driver made it go away but as mentioned would be nice to use the current ones.
