Topic title says it all, I remember having a master was making a big difference towards adept III (now expert) quality of spell, is it still so?

While I'm at it, how does reasearching a master spell work? (with the NPC, that is).

My question is oriented towards levelling, as the Coercer would be rolled from scratch.

Is also still possible to use a lower level master instead of a higher level expert spell without penalties of sorts (except the duration)?

Thanks in advance.

I just recently upgraded to Master t8 charm, and I was surprised at what a difference it makes. Tank pets are far more durable than with the Expert version. I'm not sure how much difference it makes with caster pets - I'm in Jasarth Wastes these days, and there aren't really any charmable casters to be found.

It's not really necessary to have a Master though, for regular solo content. I made it up through the levels with just Expert.

The way research assistants work is this: You go talk to a <research assistant> NPC. There's one in each of the run-down starter housing zones: Big Bend, Stonestair Byway, etc. He'll give you a list of spells you can upgrade, and how long it will take. You can only research one spell at a time per account, I believe. And the research only improves the spell by one notch, so you're going to want already have an Expert quality. The time it takes to finish research varies by the level of the spell. It's something like 29 days (real-world-time) for a 70+ spell. I think about 6 days for a T1 spell. If you switch research from one spell to another, it gives you partial credit for the time invested in the old one, I think.

The RA will send you in-game mail when he's done. But you can pull up a window to see his progress at any time. It's one of the little buttons on the Persona screen - same place as the button for zone lockout timers and stuff.

I don't know the answer to your other questions. But welcome to the brotherhood!

T8 Charm was never worth it to pay that much plat since it's only longer duration and... in all situation, I used t7 was working fine.

JW.. try the caster mobs at jarsath docks (since they are caster u can interrupt them when they break) and for melee.. go for the triple up droags around vp entrance... having a hugh melee dmg rate but.. unluckily if they break ur almost dead all the time beside u can react fast enough.

Their name slips my mind atm but they have white robes. They have a nuke that will do 4k+ to mobs depending on how much you debuff the mob's magical mit. Keep your crack spells up and it will use it frequently too, and keep the pet set on ranged focused.

Master is miles ahead of expert still yes. It's worth getting the t8 master. You only have to have the t8 expert scribed, talk to the researcher than wait a month for it to finish. Or- as others have said- you can use the next charm down mastered. Only thing a higher rank charm means is potentially longer duration.
