Hi, when i start everquest on the caching appereance screen is a little window in the right corner who stands "downloading assets... 5.7 MB" but i wait now since 2 hours and nothing happens!?

Whats that and what can i do?

Same here.

Two different computers, one running Vista 64 the other running Windows 2000.

If I had to take a guess, I would say I need to change a setting on my external firewall. However, I have not idea what that setting would be. I did not see any patch notes for today.

-Leucippus

Okay, my bad...I should have tried this first...Seems to be a firewall issue. Not sure what may have changed but, I enabled Gaming Mode in the firewall and now it loads.

BTW I use AVG Internet Security which , now that I look at the log, did update overnight so I don't know if it was a game update or firewall update that caused the issue. Anyone know if this is a problem in other firewall/security products?

Same problem here, but nothing I've tried has made any difference.

I use Norton 360, and it immediately asked for rule updates after this morning's update frm the station launcher. I have not had any problems with any application accessing the network with N360 (including EQII). If I launch from Station Launcher, the executable (which reads Nov. 9 in window border??) becomes unresponsive as soon as the "Cashing Appearances" status bar comes up. If I launch directly from the executable, I'm asked to login, which is successful, and then again the freeze at "Caching Appearances".

Only files that show modification on every restart are EQIIui.log (0KB, empty file), and EQIIUIfontszcal801b.TTF.fot (2KB)

Router shows constant traffic between my machine and TCP:208.111.170.62:80, and once to UDP:199.108.202.161:9100 on login. I am using the Najena server.

I've tried uninstalling yesterday's update to WinXP, clearing the cache folder as suggested above, completely dropping the firewall (network wide!), and running a full-scan check on my EQII install (from the station launcher), but the executable always stops responding at the exact ame point. Music continues to play until the track ends, and I'll occasionally see 1% CPU use from EQ2, but it appears to be stuck waiting for something.

Any other suggestions?
Can we please, please, please get some one on from tech support that can help us? There seem to be multiple people posting about the exact same problem, including me. All of these people had no problem logging on just prior to this morning's patch. Very elementary troubleshooting technique points directly to the patch from this morning. Telling people to make various and sundry random changes to their configuration will NOT solve the problem. By the way, I have tried all the changes suggested thus far without success. What needs to be happening: The developers that coded this latest update from this morning need to be trouble shooting the changes that were introduced. If this is already the case, then a representative from Tech support needs to be updating us on the progress. Thank you for listening.
