Ran around for over a half hour trying to find a port to the "community lounge". Either it was non-existent or secret for only select people. If you are not going to make it accessable for everyone or if you are not going to announce where to go for it, then don't put it out system wide. Nothing I personally hate worse than wasting my time on something I'm unable to participate in.

There should be a portal to the community lounge available in Sinking Sands near the carpet that returns you to Qeynos/FP/etc. It only lasts an hour at a time though, so if it has already poofed, just /join test and ask if someone is available to come and cast a new portal (last night Amnerys had to go recast at least once I believe).

It's still going right now. Go to Sinking Sands on Test server and run to the first tent on the left. There's a portal on the ground. Right-click and "Use". The entrance could be a bit more obvious, and there could have been serverwide announcements. So far we've seen Domino, Zoltaroth, Amnerys, and Brasse. I'm there as Felcrin. Calthine and Niami are also there and about 80 others.

Good Griefs! Ask already!

I had to ask in chat for directions for the party last nite. Helpful answers came from everywhere. My pride wasn't hurt by asking directions )) Okay, I should have sniffed out the party but a passing swine blocked up my beautifuls nostrils.

Hit the portal and zoned into a great gathering of people! What a group! What a bunch of party animals!

There was an announcement of refreshing the portal for other late comers. Good things do happen to characters who gets a little losted.

Wheels of Brie for all who hosted and hostessed the Party.

Many, many thanks!!!!

GlitterPaws

Indeed. I was watching 1-9 chat. If anyone had asked for help, I would have gladly provided it. Also in-game you can do /who all GM right?

I saw several ask in test channel and each time they asked, they were directed to the portal near the carpet in Sinking Sands. If the portal was actually up or not, though, I am unsure as I was at the party from the beginning.

The last week or so I've levelled three characters on Test into T3 and it wasn't until someone said in /1-9 "Wheres the party?" and got the reply "/join test" that I found out about that channel. I just thought it was a very very quiet server - and seeings I'd said a couple of things in /1-9 and received no reply, a rather standoffish one at that. I don't think many regular Test players bother with /1-9. Of course once I joined /test, my time on the server has been much more pleasant.

I went to the first party and thought it great fun. Not quite as fun as the Bonfire Night party Kiara threw on Runnyeye, which was really outstanding, but it was lovely to meet people from the community like Niami DenMum and devs like Domino and Gninja and be able to say hello. Pity we never managed to break into Brenlo's office tho...

Most people who chat in 1-9 will get a response from someone fairly fast telling them to go to test chat. Also, the very first thread on the first page of the Test Server Community Forum (on this website) has a nice summary of life on Test. Back in 2007, Kethaera wrote:

Another way to get to know the community besides our community forums is by typing /join test when you get to the server. This puts you in our server-wide channel, which is used to coordinate testing, facilitate trade, and meet new people. The level channels, city channels, etc are not really used on Test.

If you do an internet search for "test server community forum" or "test server faqs" you will find this thread by Kwuong from Oct 2006. It too is in an obvious place with a clear header.

I know it's easy to miss stuff like this, but the information is out there and the community forums are a good place to check out whenever you are playing on a server. So, it absolutely is common knowledge but it assumes you look at the community forums for information and read the thread called "Looking at making a character on Test? Here's some things you should know."

I sound snarky by pointing out that this really is common knowledge, but really I know it does happen and I have made mistakes like that in the past too. I hope you like it on Test and I am glad that you found people more pleasant once that little issue was resolved.

Can a person copy character from Test_Copy to Test?

As for the party, I never realized there was something ON THE GROUND to look for. Last time I tried to go to a party I had just installed the streaming client and it took me over an hour to go from Moors to Qeynos to Sinking Sands. I was so frustrated I never would have seen anything on the ground.

Thankfully a lot of the bugs have been nearly ironed out of the streaming client.

No, you cannot copy characters to Test. Test is a live environment, with folks leveling from 1-80 naturally (although with bonus XP) with a regular game economy. You cannot copy buffed toons over.
