I haven't tried out any of the hawk totems that let you fly. But, would you be interested in being able to fly in the game, to a certain maximum height. I always thought it would be cool to be able to fly up to the top of some mountains in Antonica, (or climb them at least) Or if there could be objects, say a castle floating in the air you could go to.

Though not be leaving the zone, as you to go to the overrealm via teleporter for example just being able to fly up there. The griffin's view is pretty cool. Wouldn't be cool if you could take a ride and control the Griffon? Even if you could do nothing (not get off anywhere, you'd have to go back to the tower to get off) else a simple sightseeing and the view (even in a virtual world) would be awesome. It is when you ride the griffin, but you can only follow the programmed path.

The devs have said, many times over, that flying isn't technically feasible in EQ2 because the zones were not built properly to take it into account. The griffin flight paths had to be carefully constructed in order to accomodate that mode of travel.

I think it would be beneficial for them to re-evaulate the flying mount situation. Look at what WoW is doing with their latest expansion. EQ2 could do something similar. I would be extremely excited of they implented this feature as I think it's really cool, and very few MMOs offer it (Only WoW and Vanguard come to mind).

ALL zones would have to be reworked to be flight compatable. major undertakeing. and dispite the cool factior, not very practical.

It's not part of the game's base mechanics and game engine. It just does NOT support it, nor is it capable.

What's the big deal with flying mounts? Even if all the zones were reworked wouldn't the novelty run out after a while unless there was some special need to fly?

It also would be cool if there were very deep bodies of water.

Flying seems like a novelty, even in other games. People would use it at first, but after a while, weeks would go by before you would actually see someone using it. I would prefer they use their time creating something more useful.

Having a deep water area was done before in EQOA. Vastly Deep on Odus had a temple at the bottom, and it took nearly a minute to swim down there. Since the coming expansion is Odus, perhaps we will see it again.
