OK so 80 an Inquisitor FINALLY gets to make a move to get their Fabled, and eventually their Mythical.

Problem.

Everyone and their mother's brother's cousin's hair stylist' left berry promote the use of a 2 handed weapon as the weapon of choice for Inquisitors, while our Fabled/Mythical weapon is a 1 hander.

What's the best ( optimal ) 2 hander to obtain at 80? Thex Mallet from the "Book of Thex" heritage quest?

What would you go with...?

Well there's two main choices that are 'easily' attainable. One is the Hammer of Heavy (or Hard?) Knocks and the other is the Thex Mallet.

The Hammer drops from the 1st named (ogre) in WoE and is largely considered a junk drop by most of the WoE runner players. It has a +1 pt higher damage rating than the Thex 2-hander. Instead of the crits and divine damage proc, it has +10 DPS and a Savage Healing proc. All things considered, the Hammer should be easier to acquire than the Thex whether you raid for it or buy looting rights.

Now I haven't done a parse yet on my Inquis alt to see the actually numbers difference. Once it hits 80th, I'm going to try to do the Thex HQ and test the difference. But right now, my money's on the Hammer.

I have both the Thex Mallet and Hammer of Hard Knocks. They definately "feel" different depending on encounter lifetimes:

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Summary:

Thex: I found best DPS for short to medium length (30s-1min) Heroic spanking content

HHHK: Is best DPS in 2-4 minute (Heroic or RAID) spanking content (Easy to get)

1H (Myth) & Shield: Best DPS "on average" across content while maintaining flexibility on the fly.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Reasons/Observations:

I have noticed that the smaller delay on the Thex means that "on average" my DPS output on Heroic mobs is "stable" and "consistent." I do what I expect and every now and then get a couple of flurry-events early on and stroke my epeen.

If I use the Hammer of Hard knocks on Heroics (solo or in a group) I find that my DPS can vary from encounter to encounter more since there are less "swings" and sometimes the mobs don't live long enough for the flurry to go off when I group and ACT shows this accordingly. Other times I "flurry-shot" them.

In a RAID setting HHHK makes my DPS higher than TM. The advantages / disadvantages of each I alluded to above wash out in 2-4 minute fights as flurry goes off more evenly between the two.

In short fights, inconsistent, or lower "TO HIT" rate mobs I actually find that using the Myth and a Shield gives me a higher DPS output as well as a free cure and the ability to heal quickly by just disabling the offensive stance before healing on the fly. This is very noticable on Solo mobs, Heroics (soloing), and Grouping nasty Heroics.

On pure tank and spank long fight mobs HHHK > TM > Myth but the DPS difference you lose when using the myth doesn't really matter on fights where they require more complex strategy, flexibility, or survivability.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

When I solo/group I'm running ~80%+ shield mod, 1/2 T1 granite, 1/2 T2 granite upgrade- Myth and Shield

When I group/raid - tank/spank mobs I'm running ~1/2 Wilderness Warrior, 1/2 T2 Soul Lancer, HHHK

The Choker doesn't really help me all that much (5.2K -->5.6K) for the pain it is. Keep in mind that 10% for a DPS class at 10K is a lot, but we've only got 5-7 CA buttons (depending on your choices) unlike other classes that have a ton since we have loads of autoattack.

I use three weapons: Supple Dogwood Staff for solo / short heroic / epic fights <30s HHHK for longer heroic / epic fights. Esp. if they need some healing as I can even cast my group reactive without delaying a single swing. Myth + X for cure heavy and or heal heavy fights.
