So I am playing EQ2 again (station access, just never play hardly...SWG is my main game...ok stop laughing)

I logged in and got the Halloween quest that says it scales to your level... uhm...wow.

Hard to get to the place when I am literally one shot many times on the way to the quest spot. Finally get there and cannot defeat the 3 vampires that spawn.

Is this supposed to be this hard to solo for a lowbie (level 25 warlock) or am I doing something horribly wrong?

I believe you're talking about the haunted mansion in Loping Plains?

This zone is actually meant to do with 2-3 people. You *can* do it solo, but you need to be on your toes and need good equipment and spells and a bit luck helps as well.

There are horses that will fly you into somborn village at all the entrances I believe.

I know I have been flying in on a horse at the zone in areas.

Keep an eye out for a dude with a bunch off pumpkins and stuff near him, I forget his name otherwise.

My 50 necro managed to solo the LP house but it took a bit of doing. She has no master pets and only handmedown level 40 gear, but of course she has lifetap, which does help. I did die, but as long as I took one mob out before I did, there were less to kill the next go round. The main vamp almost got me each time, he moved on just wen I well down into the red. I found if I stayed out of the room he was in, I could heal up, get teh pet back up, and then engage again. And the end kill in the basement was much easier then the ones above ground.

So while not ideal, and not straight forward, it was possible in the end.

I've done it, multiple times, on my [Removed for Content] 80 ranger and even [Removed for Content]-er low-20's Paladin. And when I say [Removed for Content], I mean really [Removed for Content]...my ranger doesn't even hit 7k hps. The named vampire is easily the hardest part, especially when he has the swarms of bats. If it weren't for the fact that he runs at 50% the first 3 times you see him, I don't know if I could have done it.The only CC I really have is a trap that will root mobs in range, so I used that almost every fight and just tried to burn them down. I also used what AE attacks I could on the triple vampire spawns...they hit hard but don't have a lot of hitpoints. Having camo was nice for my first run-through...nothing sees through it, but sometimes mobs spawn and auto-aggro. Then once you know what's coming, it makes it easier to be fully ready for each fight. It's very tough, but it's doable.

I've run 10 of my 12 characters through it solo - the melee characters had it fairly easy until the part when you have to reduce the vampire to 50% three times - as the fight is maintained (no out of combat regen) through all three fights - if you /yell between fights you can regenerate, and it does not fail the encounter.

My shadowknight, melee inquis, melee mystic and melee warden did not have to worry about that though - just waded through the mobs. Low level fury was toughest. I don't have any mages as squishies aren't my style.

I portalled in to a place that really isn't that far away, but thick with mobs. Forgot the name. Level 25 (at the time) Warlock with really stock gear. I guess it's a moot point as the quest is closed now I assume.

No biggie.

Yeah, Nights of the Dead is gone and past

But Frostfell is right around the corner!

So you don't get into the mansion this year, no biggie, you can still save Frostfell

And frostfell should be accessible by a wardrobe in all major cities.
