Hi there,

I begin this post to give some feedback on the newly re-introduced collections of Sinking Sands.

Yesterday night I spent more than three hours harvesting shinies in SS and I found the following collection/collection parts :

Akhet of the Day (level 50) (akhet of a Moonlit Desert) only found in SS so far- Bronze 1- Silver 1- Golden 1the reward for this is a choice between two tier 6 jewels and a house item "platinum djinn lamp" aITEM -779853258 -212922400:[platinum djinn lamp]/a

Akhet of the Day (level 50) (akhet of a Shimmering Desert, maybe a bug that the collection uses the same name...) only found in SS so far- Bronze 0- Silver 1- Golden 1reward unknown so farSun Gems (level 50) only found in SS so far- large sun bead 0- long sun cord 0- large sun pendant 1- medium sun bead 0- small sun pendant 2reward unknown so farMoon Gems (level 50) only found in SS so far- large moon bead 0- long moon cord 0- large moon pendant 0- medium moon bead 1- small moon pendant 0reward unknown so far

Crushed/Spotted/Striped/Shining Scarab Collection (level 50) found in SS, and one found in Shimmering citadel- Black 1/0/1/0- Blue 0/1/0/0- Brown 1/0/0/0- Green 1/0/0/0- Red 1/0/0/1reward unknown so farCrushed/Spotted/Striped/Shining Solifugid Collection (level 50) found in SS only so far- Black 0/1/0/0- Blue 0/0/0/0- Brown 0/0/1/0- Green 1/0/0/1- Red 1/0/0/0reward unknown so far

it seems the rarity for those (scarabs/solifugids) is slightly higher than the scorpion tails, and the locustsNow I have not been able to find any part of the following missing collection I don't know if they have been re-introduced :- Sphinx Toes- Sphinx Feathers- Alliz Raef Ew ScalesAbout the feedback, well, the shinies in Sinking sands and DoF in General are too scarce compared to the loot table of what drops on the shinies according to me. DoF collection parts were very very numerous already and some of the rarest, now it seems that the number of Shiny nodes have not increased at all and the newly re-introduced collections share the same loot table for SS at least... It would be good if those collections can be found all over DoF, not only in SS. the number of shinies were quite increased to reflect the number of available collections in these zones. (I think SS would be the only zone ingame that has 4 total collections of insects which means a total of 16 collections, 5 parts each that makes a total of 80 parts for insects only...)the number of parts I found in approximatly three hours is quite low, but indeed I do not count all the other, already existing collection parts that I also found (locusts, scorpions, cogs, mummy wraps, giant toes, sands)

Well if other people find other pieces of collection in other places than SS in DoF, please share your experience Also if someone find parts for Sphinx or Alliz Raef Ew, that's interesting to know too

Akhets and Solifugid confirmed to drop in Shimmering Citadel too

Shinie density in sinking sands has always been woefully low. I still have several collections from there that I have not finished, and any time I go to try and farm shinies is a relatively poor return (in terms of shinies per time expended) that is exacerbated by the large number of collections there -- and now there's loads more.

I'd like to see the # of shinies significantly increased or their respawn lowered.

I am glad to see they also drop in SC. That zone is relatively good for shinies -- they have a fair respawn time, but they are very predictable in where there are and it's a relatively small area, unlike sinking sands (which I might add is also physically annoying to travel, what with the dune edges).

I agree Barx. there is definitly a problem with number of collections / number of shinies ratio... and though Shimmering is quite "easy" to farm, the number of shinies is relatively low if we take into account there is more than 120 different shinies to find, at least...

I support the demand for an increased number of shinies in SS.

I can confirm on Test that I received some Sun and Moon gems this weekend. Items look like bracelets in the collection screen. Were dropping in SS just north of the Moors platform.

/sign

Definitely need more shinies in DoF, especially Sinking Sands.

I would also like to see actual collection quests for those items that we used to get from the Burynai house pets (teeth, claws, etc) that were "collectibles" but did not belong to any existing collections.

Can we please make all collection items having the same chance of dropping? Every time I go shiny hunting in DoF, I get lots of decayed sand giant toes, blue, green purple, orange and red sand, and only occasionally an item that I do not have. Some of the pieces are ridiculously rare.

You're asking that rares have the same chance to appear as a common, hence removing the title "rare". That's ludicrous.

The amount of shiny spawns, much like everything else in the original DoF, are entirely too low. This does need looked at.

last time i checked Shinies don't go Ding when you harvest one that's been titled "rare"

Even the "rare" ones for the blue shiny goggles are not as rare as for example yellow sand. What could be the reason for DoF (or any other old world) shinys to be rare at all, just for the plat seller's profit? Now adding shinys to a zone where hardly anyone is having business in will just have the same as effect as months back when some of the no-trade pages were made tradeable. They will just rot on the broker for ridiculous prices. This would not help anyone. In KoS we also did not have such exorbitant rare shinys afair.

The concept of rare is so that you don't finish the collection within seconds. Also, though it isn't normally the case, rarity means the reward is excellent. For instance the Relics of the Ethernauts collection contains many rares. If that collection were finishable within 1 day of harvesting shinies in TSO the reward would need to be toned down. It makes no sense to be rewarded for no effort or time spent doing anything, especially "collecting."

And regardless of whether there are dings or not, there is a rare for each collection and sometimes several for a single collection. I have 24 collections left to complete in the entire game. I've collected and sold as a base of wealth in EQ2, and I can assure you that the simple lack of a "ding" doesn't mean there are not rares.

I'm tired of reading players asking for more easy mode content. "I want to log in level to max with 2 kills, should have raid equivalent gear without raiding, and I should have full masters for free." Complaining to make each shiny common within a collection has no basis in logic or reason. It's simply so you don't have to take the time collecting.

And yes, I agree on some shinies Alienor. Yellow sand and lost soul have a rarity unlike any other shiny in the game, and it should be looked at. Making all shinies common though, is simply a cry from the lazy, gimmegimmegimme playerbase.

The point of rarity is within the name itself. Collecting. If you were a collector of bugs and you didn't have any rare bugs within your collection (and didn't concern yourself with taking the time to get rare bugs) then for all intensive purposes you're not actually a collector. You're someone that picked up a few bugs from your backyard and called yourself a collector.

The metaphor is even easier with cars. If you own 28 common models of vehicle, you're not a collector. I'd challenge you to tell a car enthusiast that you are.

As for the price of rares, Alienor, that's based on the market of the server, which are always affected by expansion. Due to Rise of Kunark and The Shadow Odyssey any player can gain 10 platinum per day doing quests. When the economy floods with that kind of platinum (many make nearly 100 or more a day), the prices go up. It's very simple. I could sell my shiny for 45 silver and guaranteed sell it or I can sell my rare shiny for 10pp and guaranteed get that as well. Why would any reasonable individual sell it for 45 silver at that point?
