Really?

This game is catering to 5 year olds now?

Could we at least get the option to disable it.

I'm not too crazy about this idea either. It doesn't even give a full detail of the changes. It only shows crit chance and mitigation changes. I noticed it doesn't bother showing critical mitigation differences, which are most important, late in the game. The really silly part was having this show on things like crafter gear.

If this feature does make it in, I'd also like to see a toggle for it.

also shows it on anythign that could be equipt in your charm slot like mounts and port stones and torches.

It is a bit redundant with the side by side comparision you get just by mousing over the item unless you take the time to turn that off wich most people dont.

I don't think most people realize they can turn off the side by side comparison.

Apparently when you roll over an item that is equippable (armor, jewelry), there is a LOT more information now about what effect equipping that item will have, specifically increases or decreases in certain stats. Apparently it's very space-consuming. I haven't seen a screen shot yet.

Well, some effects can be quite subtle and not that easy to determine from the visible information. Is there really any useful argument (apart from 'I wouldnt use it' against it?

the red is unreadable and annoying, if it weren't glaring it would be useful to me

One can already see that +4 crit chance is better than +2 crit chance. If they're trying to help the person that can't do simple math that well, they should have more fields covered. I remember other games showing a bracketed number for the positive or negative change. There is still some thought to be put into whether or not a person upgrades an item, as other effects like a haste or proc often make the difference. They should go all the way with something like this or not do it at all. Either way, I still don't care for it, as it's more clutter on the screen.

To be honest, the lack of information it presents is misleading as to if the item is an upgrade or not. It misses out soo much stuff you will end up confusing new players with it rather than it be an aid.

I agree a toggle would be nice to turn this feature off too.

That means they are on for every new player. When you mouse over an item, especially one that goes in an earring, ring or wrist slot (multi slot items are even worse), the player is bombarded with information.

When players start getting up in levels, and have items with effects, set boni and both blue and green stats, the information displayed when mousing over an item is rediculous.

2) The information displayed, at least so far, is missleading. If I have The Bloodthursty Choker (everyones favourate) and Mark of the Awakened, it tells me that I lose 2 spell crit by taking MoA off, but not that I gain 10 base from the choker.

3) It tells me that I may lose 5 spell crit chance by taking an item off and will gain 2 spell crit bonus by putting another item on. It will not, however, tell me which of these stats is better. To any player that needs a "feature" like this, it serves no real purpose, as they won't understand what they are equipping. To players that do understand what effects do, there is no need for it.

Edit: this feature WILL be useful come the expansion, assuming item degridation and all. Can we just leave it out until then?

All they need to do is add an option to turn it off, then those who like it can use it, those who don't can turn it off. I haven't had a chance to check, but that may already be in there. And I think it may as well go in now, there's enough coming in the following GU which will be the expansion that if its ready to go people may as well get used to it now.

I mean when the consolidate stats and resists and such, and so you can see a items acctual mit vs your lvl. but tbh its alot of information.

madhatr wrote:

but tbh its alot of information.

Thats my biggest issue, its just too much all at once.

Mousing over an item like the earring/ring from YIS, your screen gets bombarded with far too much information. We WILL have a need to see this information in a few months, but at that time I'd rather only see the information when I want to see it.

Having to go in to the options menu to turn this on (assuming the option to turn it on and off is added) is not the way I'd like to do it. I'd rather be given an item comparison function, where I can select an item, and I get told what I gain and lose over each item I have equipped in a slot that the selected item can go in.

My preferance for this is still an attachment to the dressing room window.

it shows different values for attunable and attuned items.

before attune:

after attune:

notice the mitigation difference numbers

and on the other hand, without boots i have 20.2% mit, 22.9% with brittlebone, and 23.1% with t2 one. so what do those numbers actually mean?

Its not taking into effect the current mitagation set bonuses before you attune it. So you can be mislead into thinking that the item would be an upgrade when in reality it isnt. Obviously most of the people getting set bonuses would realize this. but, its not working correctly.

You are also only getting the upgrade over the "Left" item. I dont see the upgrade comparison over the right side of my rings or wrists.

If you are going to do this go all the way or dont do it at all. If some one has the ability to read they can see if an item has more crit or double attack on it. Give damage increases. Equipping this item will result in % more damage in your auto attack. Mages could have the ability to select a certain spell and then see how equipping this new item would effect that spell specifically. The idea isnt bad, it just need to go in the right direction to be useful at all.

We're probably going to go ahead and disable this feature for now. This might be something we look at doing down the road and if so we will take a look at the bugs and make some changes so that the tooltips are a little more readable.
