I recently decided to start playing EQ2 again. I digitally downloaded it - everything went fine. Updater runs slower then what I remember it, but it could be the same - I get to the patcher and obviously it needs to do some updates -- that's all good and well.

Problem is, I get stuck at Analyze: client.fr.qm

Scanning files [100%]

I don't understand what's wrong... can anyone assist me with what I need to do or help me pull my head out of the sand so I can do something? Thanks... I'll provide [Removed for Content] of it as well.

After a few tinkering of my own doing I finally have progressed some... I think it will be alright - shouldn't take more then an hour to do the rest of the downloading.

Sorry to make the post, it was just sitting there for like 6 hours though - so I thought something was wrong, then I restarted... and with some effort got it to finally move forward.

Feel free to delete this thread, my apologies for any inconveniences.

Well - I'm sorry to say I'm still having issues. It downloaded and everything did what it was supposed to - after it seems like it took forever doing certain things... I'm not sure if that is normal or not; but it would take literally an hour to get past 98% on the updater, then another hour after 100% for it to legitimately begin the physical download itself. However, it did download from my knowledge - I left it alone while I watched a few movies with the girlfriend and came back and it had the big red Updating button finished and was now saying [PLAY]... so obviously I clicked it... well then it froze, and did nothing for the next 10 minutes... I eventually just went into the task manager and restarted the comp. I then took the following steps: I ran Spybot S&D to see if there was any viruses/trojans slowing the performance of the computer, seeing as I have never had EQ2 run this slow in the past on the same computer... well the patcher that is - I haven't even gotten the [Removed for Content] thing to run yet. S&D came back with 0 results, as I run it daily - to no surprise. I then decided to disk defragment my comp. seeing as I hadn't done that in about a month, and it took about 2 hours to finish, but didn't really do anything performance wise in change. I'm running 2 HD's, one at 250 GB another at 500 GB - neither of which are remotely close to even being 50% full - so that shouldn't be an issue - in fact they USED to be much fuller when I used to play EQ2, I deleted a ton of my music and movies for the benefit of performance on other games I've played since. Well... after doing ALL that, I decided to try to do it again. Well it still took forever, updating - etc. I finally have it finished, and to much avail, at the end it did the same thing, except the [UPDATING] didn't change to [PLAY], it still just said [UPDATING] but you could interact with it - so I pushed it... then it froze again. I'm not real sure why this is occuring, but it never did it to me in the past, is there any help? I'm going to try completely uninstalling and reinstalling EQ2 in the meantime... if you know of any issues that might be causing this it would help immensely... thanks. Sorry for the long message, but I'm beginning to get really frustrated, seeing as I just spent cash and I can't even utilize my game I'll post my specs. System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Vers. 2002 Service Pack 3 Computer: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz 1.5 GB RAM HD: 250GB(1) 500GB(2) DirectX: 9.0c Graphics card components: GeForce FX 5200 256mb Hope you can find something wrong so I can fix it, cause the last thing I want to see is "should be working" haha. Thanks guys/gals

Also - not trying to bump topics, feel free to merge I could care less, but as I'm browsing the database to try and find help I keep doing new things - I just updated my drivers also... GeForce FX Series* Win 2000 / XP: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_...75.19_whql.html I downloaded that - still no change in anything, in fact the "Scanning for Updates" that FIRST pops up before you even login is taking an eternity to do anything now... this is getting really frustrating... any help would be appreciated... soon

Another edit:

Wow, after 14 minutes it finally got past the scanning for updates and to the Login page... now it's taking another 5 minutes to "process my login" is this for real? I remember all this taking maybe 20 seconds in the past... then maybe a minute to check for new updates everytime... it's taking at least 1-2 hours everytime to do this... then when it's finally done and I click the Update/Play button - it freezes and never goes to actually playing the game!!!

Good thing I'm thinking about buying a new computer soon... jesus this is ridiculous!

Greetings,

Have you tried using the station launcher instead of the regular EQ2 launchpad? I see you're using the old style launcher in your screenshot so it would be worth trying the station launcher instead. You wont need to redownload the game to do so and the station launcher itself is an extremely small download. You can get that program through the following link:

http://launcher.station.sony.com/
