Greetings,

It would be hard to recommend specific hardware without knowing whether you plan to use parts of your current system and what price range you're looking at. As a general suggestion I would advise looking through the following thread that collects system specs and performance levels:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=444036

With that information you get an idea about what to expect with different hardware setups.

Is the computer going to be used specifically for this game? If so I wouldn't suggest wasting your money on Quadcore becuase you will be very disappointed after you get done spending $1,500 on a new Quadcore PC in SLI and only get 30-40 FPS in Balanced Mode if your lucky. I'm running the below setup and get pretty crappy FPS in this game, but anything else I can handle at max settings with 16 xx AA/AF no problem at all.

Q9650 Overclocked to 3.5 GHZ

8 gigs DDR2

ASRock 780i SLI MB

2 x Geforce 9800 GTX + 512 Meg in SLI

I am able to play on Balanced mode and get up to 60 FPS in most areas, but when I raid or enter most major cities it drops down to 30 FPS, even on Balanced. If I want 60 constant on raids i'm looking high performance or Extreme, which just makes the game look terrible, so why even bother raiding?

This game really needs it's code re-worked or EQ2 is going to lose a lot of players to other mmo's that actually support Quadcore and SLI. I played Beta for Aion, which is graphically one of the best mmo's i've ever seen, I was able to play that on 8x AA/AF at 1920x1080 and didn't studder at all. Constant 60 FPS everywhere in sli, even in major cities.

If you are just buying the PC for EQ2 i'd suggest buying a mid/high-range dual core processor running at at least 3.0 GHZ and then overclocking it to at least 3.5 GHZ, 4.0 GHZ if your feeling adventurous. Do your research and get a Dualcore with a high multiplier at least 9x to achieve a much faster over-clock rate. I'd suggest buying a Gigabyte motherboard as these are all about over-clocking, and make great over-clocking motherboards. You will have no probelm hitting 450 MHZ FSB on a good Gigabyte board and can run stable. If you absolutely wanted to go Quadcore i'd recommend the Q6600 for overclocking, it has a 9.5x multiplier and can easily hit 3.6 ghz or faster depending on cooling and motherboard. Hope this helps.
