I use a few different gfx settings for when I raid, normal grouping or when I 2box.. Since about a week or two ago, every time I load a different saved gfx setting my game bugs out.. So now every time I have to switch gfx settings, I also have to restart the game afterwards...

This is what happens... Note the "double-vision".. Also the mouse pointer seems to go off-track and where I point it seem to be a hundred or so pixels to the left of where it actually is... Also the text in the chat windows loses smoothness/antialiasing and it looks horrible.. If I switch to full screen when this happens, the problem seems to go away(at least the double vision stuff), however I never play full screen always in windowed mode..

I would also like to point out that since GU53, the game seems to either leak a crapload of memory, or uses a crapload more than previously..

I have a core2duo E8400 running at 4ghz, 4gb RAM, Radeon 4870x2 2gb gfx card... Before GU53 I had no problems 2boxing with world textures@medium and character textures at maximum(unless I went to terens grasp or neriak hehe).. Now I have to run all textures at MINIMUM for the game not to use up all my ram and start HDD swapping into eternity.. The game honestly looks like utter CRAP with textures set so low.. :/

I played around and it seems that if I resize the game window and then maximize it back to full windowed size again, the bugs go away... Annoying though... *shrug*

Greetings,

If you have 'adaptive anti-aliasing' or 'catalyst AI' enabled in the graphics card options then you will probably want to disable them. We have seen some problems with those options and they could be causing the issues you're reporting here.

Regarding the increased memory usage, you'll probably want to check the following thread for updated information:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=459319

EDIT: Also, what shadow setting are you using? I think there was a double-vision issue with GPU shadows at some point. Have you tried switching between CPU/GPU shadows to see if the problem persists?

Yes I use GPU shadows but even if I load settings with shadows disabled(raid settings or 2-box settings I have no shadows) I get the bug.. Also catalyst AI is disabled(to get antialiasing to work) and adaptive antialiasing is also turned off..

The memory issues seem to be resolved with the latest nov 2 client.. Actually never seen EQ2 use this little memory before.. Thanks!

I read a lot of stuff on these boards about disabling anti-aliasing in the vid card control panel to help on framerates. I'm having issues right now where eq2 is basically a 10-22fps slideshow, and virtually no tweaking of in-game performance settings helps. I can turn everything down making the world look like an old butt-ugly ps1 game and my system is still choking. I thought maybe anti-aliasing settings would be the answer.

I'm running an nvidia gtx 260 with the 191.07 drivers, and in its control panel i don't see anything specifically labeled "adaptive anti-aliasing' or 'catalyst AI'. Could they be called something different? Is there anything else in those settings you suggest I turn off/on? Does this mean I can never use "let the 3d application decide" again? Do you want my full system specs? Have I overshot my question limit?

Not sure what that means Rothgar but let me guess that if I zone to the same zone(evac etc) re-loading the zone content will go alot faster? Or zoning out of a zone and back in?

What about these issues with going from fullscreen to windowed or loading different settings(I think it has to do with GPU shadows turning on) that displaces shaders or whatever it is? At least its fixable by minimizing or resizing the window and then maximizing it again but its sortof annoying.. Also the crash when launching Ventrilo 3 with overlay enabled(Windows 7 goes into Basic color mode).. That might be something for the ventrilo programmers to look at since they have apparently not been able to adopt their overlay to work with Aero theme(which also uses transparency stuff)... Same problem in Vista ...

And Dactil, I don't want to play without antialiasing.. Thats almost equal to having to play the game in black&white.. Anyway I've tested performance with and without 16xFSAA and on my system it has absolutely no performance impact.. My GFX-card is capable of so much more than EQ2 currently utilizes that it just doesn't matter if I have it on max..

If you have a nvidia card you can ignore that comment since what i recall they dont have that setting. (Nvidia do have some transparency (sp) AA that you might want to try to turn off if it is enabled).
