Before thanksgiving I hope to have a new computer. What is the best way to move the game from the old pc? Should I just reinstall off of the game disks or can I copy the Sony folder to the new computer. And where?

New pc:

cpu - I7-920 OC'd to 3.6 ghz

ram - 6 gb 1600mhz ddr3

OS - Win7 ultimate 64

vid - 2 nvidia gtx 275 sli 896 mb

HD - 2 500gb 7200rpm sata

Also, should this setup allow me to run the game comfortably at the highest graphics settings?

Simply copying the sony folder to the new computer would be the fastest way to install, though.

Regarding the new computer, I believe that it should be able to play the game at or near max settings. You might want to check the sticky post in the Performance section entitled 'How is Everquest 2 performing for you'. Finding a comparable system in that thread is usually the best way to get performance estimates.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Right now anything would be an improvement over my 3 ghz pentium 4 with 1gb ram and 256 mb vid card.

I run at maximum performance at under 15 fps. In my SQ 4 room I will sometimes dial it up to High Quality and drool over how nice the game looks but its at 4 or 5 fps. I get stuck in my guild hall on any setting above max perf due to a memory error.

If so, you just perfectly described the computer I was using when I started playing EQ2.

I don't miss it.

(the 6800 ultra suddenly emitting clouds of smoke was kind of cool, though)

My current Vid card is an ATI radeon 9550. Last night I was running a toon around Thundering steppes at the setting below Balanced. It looked nice but at a steady 5-6 fps. I'd be thrilled to see extreme graphics at 25-30 fps with the new pc and be able to enter my guild hall without a memory error.
