View Full Version : Random invisible objects

I have seen this reported a few times before(and experienced it myself) and it always seems to be a Pentium 4 system.

Also, next time it happens try going to the alternate character model section of the options and toggle them back and forth once. Let me know if that causes the missing items to pop back in.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600.

I've tried the soga on/off trick a number of times already as I had a macro from fighting Trakanon - it never helps.

Open your in game options, select the display section, and then expand the performance section. There will be a slider for 'Rendering Distance' and I would like you to increase that option. Also, in the 'model detail' section below it, please increase the max number of low detail characters.

I don't know if the second option will have an effect on non-character models like the stairs, but it would be worth trying.

Unfortunately that didn't work. My settings for rendering were at max anyway, increasing the model number also didn't change anything.

A few more things that happened today as examples, torches not drawn although you can see the flame above, cookpots in orc camps not there, npc's not rendering etc.

Most bizzarely, running through a section of the mines in Butcherblock and one of the side passages had no walls. It was just black, I could see all the mobs running through the tunnels, the flames from the torches (but not the torches themselves ), harvestable rocks etc. Just the walls themselves didn't get rendered. I could run through the tunnel as if it was there, not fall through the world. Same textures as other tunnels which I can see. Weird

That's interesting. Well, it's almost surely an issue with the texture/models loading up into memory. What graphics card are you using and what driver version is it running off of? Do you have any kind of overclock running? I'm specifically interested if you have overclocked or modified the timings for your RAM.

Geforce 9800 GTX. Latest drivers (191.07) - I know there have been some issues with these but I had the same problem with older drivers and updated them in the hope it would fix the problem. As it happens I seem to be one of the lucky ones and the new drivers improved performance.

No overclocking at all, at least not to my knowledge - it was bought from a gaming pc specialist so they may have done so when they built it although I didn't ask for it and didn't pay for it. It's also getting on for a year old and this is a relatively recent problem so it seems very unlikely.

If not, then it would probably be worth trying. It might cause a slight decrease in performance but we have seen some really strange issues with 190 and 191. I would advise at least trying those other driver versions before we get into other steps.

Ok, tried that over the weekend. I had the 186 version on initially before I upgraded so that wasn't the problem anyhow. The beta drivers didn't help either and in fact they slowed down eq2 a little so I have reverted back to 191.

Very puzzled, been playing some other games just to make sure its not just a faulty card or something and no problems.

Bumping this, as Ive tried everything. Reinstalled EQ2, changed drivers etc.

Please help.

EDIT - I've inserted one of the weirdest examples below, which is also a pita. These are the stairs in Palace with people running up them. However, as you can see they do not appear so I cannot climb them.
