Is it re-downloading the entire game, or is it just updating the game files?

What is the build version of EQ2 that you have?

10-12GB sounds like the entire GU set.

I'd be checking firewall and security software settings first up, even disabling them before running the launcher can tell you if they are affecting the update process.

If you're still having issues after that can you tell if the launcher does a scan of your current files, or just goes straight into downloading the updates?

What server do you normally play on? It's possible that the game is download a different region's version of the game.

Open the station launcher, sign in, and open the 'station' option in the top right. In that area you will see a 'languages' section. Make sure the language/flag listed match the region you were playing in previously. A US server will use the English option with a US flag next to it and so on.

Let us know if you're still having difficulty after that step.
