Believe it ot not I actually have FOND memories of that annoying sickness that kept spreading around. Back then when Tradeskilling was hard (Pre 20 so I was a Scholar back then instead of Jeweler) I would make potions that would sell! (and keep some on me )

Although Berty, the plague was an Epic Fail, No deaths, no real long term issues, just annoying hehe.

Anyone else dare have good memories of that time?

I joined EQ2 after the Plague event, so I don't have any good memories... But I do have a memoir of it in my library. Does that count? (;

I do - it was spreading when I first started playing.

Being a MMO noob it took me ages to figure out what was going on. I remember I caught it once after going into the pub in SQ so I developed a theory that's how it spread.

I have a screenie still of my first char (poor thing's no longer with us) running around all green

I do not recall there being any books in the game that referenced that plague that happened back in 2005.

However, if you stick around an Antonia statue long enough, sooner or later she will say dialogue about it, even after all this time.

I kind of enjoyed it, I was grouping with RL friends in nek that weren't diseased and gave it to them lol. Wasn't it the first live event? I don't think it was all that bad, I think people were glad it was over, but definitely fun to remember lol.

On the subject of old events, anyone else recall the search for the Frogloks, back before we learned that they would be added in a Live Event? That obsessive little crusade basically single-handedly created the lore forum, with people translating every bit of text that appeared in zone architecture, studying every little anomaly in the game, and of course, the tree outside the Qeynos mage tower; all seeking that one little clue that would lead us to the Frogs.

Ah, memories

Its interesting how successful the plague idea has been in mmo's... EQ2 is one of at least 3 games I know that used the idea (Horizons/Istaria was the first that I know of). Its a cool concept though, if annoying at times, heh. In Horizons it took quite a while for players to discover the way to cure it, so the only way to get rid of it was to suicide lol. I wouldn't want to see the plague return although it was a fun event, but something like it where there's interaction between players and a bit more of a feel of urgency to work towards solving/completing it. Things like the current spires event are fun, but there's not really any reason to rush to complete the spires.

I liked the concept of it but the fact that the server had to wait until some uber raid force cured it, was what ruined it for it went on like forever........

So if they were to do someting again like that it would need to be done on a smaller scale. Like maybe a special instance that could give the group a cure to eventually having the whole server having to go in thier to not get it again. In this instance because it's bound to have some repeat persons doing it to help another give tokens to buy stuff that are similar to the spires goodies. Just idea

Aye it was a fun event i seem to recall but it did drag on a bit in the end.

the froglok event was the worse event ever! Immediatly after they were unlocked for the server every name variation of Kermit was taken and everyone decided to run out into antonica yalling "FFRRRROOOAAAAKKKK"

This repeat of a spire even is not quite the same, the original you needed a certain amount of parts for it to be built. The new spire event seems a bit bland and doesn't feel like anything you do matters.

Rallosian warbands raiding the country-side, a devastating new plague sent out by Bert and only curable through Doctor Fine's divine intervention. Horrific, Thulian creations wreaking havoc in the cities, Marran soldiers fighting the minions of Innoruuk... Oh, the posibilities!

I think if players weren't able to use mage ports to the various Norrathian spires until a given spire was completed it might have inspired a bit more speed . But they are all slowly coming online, and I really like the items that can be purchased using the tokens. Its nice to have an event where tokens are fast and easy to earn, as opposed to the utter grind of some events, but it probably is slowing down the reactivation process .

The Plague was the worst live event ever. Folks running around trying to infect each other and it went on forever. It was nearly universally despised at the time. I guess the handful of folks who actually liked it are still playing. Go figure.
