So, I bought the new complete collection and just finished installing and activating.. went to give it my credit card just so I could get my free two months, and it wouldn't take any of my prepaid credit cards, so my girlfriend gave me her credit card (I live in Canada, she just moved here from the US) and it's saying because she got her card in the US it won't work. We have no other options.

What can we do? Can I change the info in my account to say I'm from the US so it'll take her card, or make a new account and transfer the activation code from the game? This is really unfair.

Through one of those methods we can tell you why your card is declining and possibly change the country code so it works with the card issued in the US. As you can probably imagine, we can not collect billing/account information over the forums for security reasons.
Yeah, I just did. He said that the cards (which have always worked in the past) aren't accepting the arbitrary $0 thing so it won't work. He pretty much told me to get lost and pay using a different method (albeit in a nicer way).

It's ridiculous.. I have no other way to pay. I'm out 50+ dollars now, from the game, and going out and buying another gift card thinking it was a problem on my end.

A change in federal law required us to switch to that system. I can understand your frustration but we can't force a charge through if the bank does not support that method of authorization.

One option would be to use a game card as payment for the account. The following website can usually send you the game card code through e-mail after you make the purchase so they are a good option:

http://www.paybycash.com/soe/codelist.php

Anyway, I'm checking out a different approach right now, but if it doesn't work I may need to have the country code changed.

I have an update regarding this issue. Apparently there is a problem with countries outside of the United States that still use USD as the currency choice. The platform team is working to correct it but so far the only ETA I have at the moment is 'close to the end of November'.

In this specific case you can probably work around it by switching the country/currency to US/USD and using the girlfriends card temporarily. Game cards through a service like paybycash would be a decent option as well.

I'll post an update as soon as I receive more information.
