Templar is your safest bet, but either Shaman (Defiler or Mystic) or Inquisitor also have spots in raids. Currently, Druids are not a good choice for someone looking to raid, but SOE tends to over-fix balance issues, meaning Druids could very easily end up the alpha-healer next expansion. I say Templars are your safest bet because, while all the other healers seem to have their ups and downs, Templars have always been one of the two strongest healing classes.

On another note they are one of the slowest to level up. A battle priest would be a better option, a Mystic or an Inquistor, you can change the Inquistor into a Templar through a betratal later on if you want. the Battle Priests are still great healers. They have the option of having their combat spells turned into combat arts with the right amount of AA.

The actual healing difference isn't huge, but the Mystic and Inquisitor are a lot easier to solo with than their counterparts. Both of the druids (HoT) can munch through content but given their lack of big heals in order to deal with spike damage, they aren't wanted on raids that much. My personal vote is for the inquisitor, but I am biased. You have plenty of slots, try them all out and pick your fit ^_^

I play a Ratonga Inquistor and a Mystic so I am biased. While races each have their prefered class not much of it is going to affect the end game all that much, in regards to server, when you create a toon have a look at you play time to see which servers have the level of people you like and go there, ask in the lvl1-9 chat what its like and see what happens. (note there are some jerks in this channel so take it all in with a grain of salt) You have 7 slots to make toons fo try them out. Im on Guk and play from New Zealand in an Australian Guild.
