Game crashes, can reproduce and predict when it will happen

Swap character …</p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"> </p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">2, Once I’m on the different toon and I try and join VC the game closes down, no error.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>I open a folder on my hard drive, game crashes, no error.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>I eject my DVD drive game crashes no error. I open up Internet explorer, game crashes no error.</p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"> </p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">This has been happening to me since a few game updates ago since they fixed VC.</p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">I have had to replace my graphics card since then but it was happening before that, I have also updated the drivers for it but it was happening before that too.</p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"> </p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Any idea what would be causing that?</p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"> </p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">I am at work today so don’t have access to my home computer so ill have to check the logs when I get home.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Only reason I’m asking is that I have seen no thread with a similar problem</p></span></p>

<p>This sounds like it could be a firewall/antivirus trying to block a certain file used by the game.  The vivox process seems like the most likely target.</p><p>Open the exception list for your firewall and delete any entries for EQ2, Everquest 2, Launchpad, or Vivox.  Then restart your computer and start the game again.  If possible, run it in windowed mode at first.  Select allow whenever prompted to update your firewall entries.  Let us know if the issue persists at that point.</p>

Hmm. Thing is it works fine if i just log in with 1 toon and doint swap. And it is running in windowed mode all the time. Is there some sort of file transfer happening that is related to VC and the changing of toons thats is interfearing with the game. I recently moved the game to a newer HD and windows asked me if I wanted to keep blocking VC and I said NO. Ill try the fire wall thing tonight.

Ill try the fire wall thing tonight.</blockquote><p>I believe the VC is integrated into the client so if it is getting blocked then it could cause an abnormal shutdown.  I'm sure that the VC system sends and receives at least some information periodically to maintain connection.  An update to that service may have caused the firewall to stop recognizing it, causing the issue you're seeing. </p><p>It's certainly an unusual crash, but it seems like refreshing the firewall entry could correct it.  Let us know if the issue persists after trying the steps I suggested.</p>

Got the day off work and have removed all the eq2 fire wall additions and then restarted the comp. reloged into eq2 and allowed the apps through the fire wall. swiched char and tried to join VC and it closed EQ2
