I left for about 4-5 months and I come back to jaw dropping prices, not that lowbie prices weren't a tad high when I left but now ? I am seeing level 1 -10 armor from 8g to 35g. Lvl 12 mc'd armor for *1* plat per piece. Just where is someone new to EQ2 going to get that kind of plat? If on the Bazaar are they supposed to buy tons of plat just to outfit some low level character? And if they are on a non station exchange server are they supposed to risk breaking the EULA to buy plat so they can have some armor/weapons/spells?

Since when did EQ2 become WoW? I have played since the birth of EQ2, I remember when level one armor went for a few silver, now its double - even triple digit gold? And plat for lvl 10-35 collections? What is with the greed? I know IRL the economy sucks, jobs are scarce, but we are talking in a GAME here. What is your financial gain? Does charging 28g for a lvl 1 staff feed your family? No. It only scream "hey, I am one greedy sob who couldn't care less if you can afford anything because I am presuming all low level characters are some lvl 80's little twinks"

Well guess what? You are wrong. My friend just bought this game and he is like [Removed for Content] at the prices. His first MMO and he gets to see just how disgusting and vile and greedy people are in EQ2, a game I told him had a great community.

But it doesn't anymore. All I see is greed. No one helps anyone. You can't hunt somewhere without an 80 coming in and killing all the named just for their selfish little kicks. You ask them nicely to stop and get told ''stop whining".

What has happened to EQ2? Did the entire WoW community come crawling over here and infect everyone? Are people so blind and greedy they feel the need to charge 50g for an abalone shell (a lvl 10 collection, people, try not screwing people so much).

Not everyone is a d*mn twink. There ARE new players here. Is it some demented goal to chase off all new players so they go play crap games like DDO and WoW?

Do we want to reduce EQ2 to nothing but 80's with tons of gold and a bunch of twinked characters?

or do we want to try and get more of a fan base, to let people see EQ2 is a great game?

because with the prices, you will just succeed in a new player saying f**k this and go elsewhere.

Think before you slap 20+++++ gold on a level one item. And charge a plat for a collectable in a 10-30 collection.

Not everything is about you and your insane GREED.

Try thinking about other people besides yourself and your need to be a selfish, greedy, inconsiderate jerk.

Stop overpricing the broker. Stop killstealing named because you are 'bored' (or just a complete a**)

Sadly this changed with every server l(

What you and your friend can try to do is to get the rare yourself and look for a crafter to make. I tend to give great prices for just doing the combines....

You dont need any of that gear to level up to 80 in this game, nor do you need adept 3's or masters.

"No one makes you buy it." Ok, mr has all the answers, just how is a new player to get anything they need? Because your greed makes you so selfish you can't say, yeah, my prices are freaking ridiculous, maybe I should think of others. But hey, it's the american way to be GREEDY and self centered. Wow, you must so proud of yourself.

Well, being on the bazaar you have the OPTION of buying plat. You also have the option of buying a toon.

There is the flip side of the equation which you are not acknowledging. All the low level harvested items and collection items sell for gold as well. It is entirely feasible for you as a low level character to still be as self sufficient as toons have always been. Harvest and collect as you work up your skills and complete quest. Sell of everything you dont need.

Grind up crafting and do writs at level 80 pay very well, then skill up adventuring.

There are options, just have fun with whatever you decide to try.

Yeah I can barely even afford to roll a new character, let alone manage my main (and only) at level 72. I guess it doesn't help that I lost my job, but this is ridiculous. The road to 72 wasn't all that pricey, now I turn around to start anew, and it is what the OP says. Don't know when this happened, or when a tin sword became 50 gold. Guys, I understand the economy is bad. That doesn't mean ya have to contribute to it and rob each other on lowbie gear. Earlier I saw cheese on the broker going for 9999 plat. I lol'd. I thought I had escaped the auction abuse from DDO, I thought wrong!

Nobody makes you buy it, but with prices like this, nobody can buy anything, 'less of course you're spoiled.

Guess what? It's the human way to be greedy. No need to slap specific labels on it. So if someone on your server thinks they can get 1p for level 12 gear, they're going to price it that way. It's their stuff, and if they're left waiting forever for someone to buy it, more fool them.

Didn't see this stated, but the majority of low level items being sold are being bought up by transmuters. The little guys make moneys and the muters level up. Don't know if you mute or not...but it takes a lot of combines to get to top, and you can get skillups on grey low level items to combine.

Thats one reason why prices are so high for low level items on the servers.

Not saying its the only reason by any means...but suply and demand.... there are people willing to pay for those items and so people price them accordingly.

Harvest collections in antonica/commonlands/darklightwoods/gfay, sell them. Sell anything treasured on the broker for no less than 3 gold per. Transmuters will buy them. Grats on your easy plat.

Seriously, I could roll a toon on a new server and be completly self sufficient buy selling collections and low leveled treasured items on the broker. Put in a little effort ffs.

Okay take a DEEP breath and then read, and stop worrying. the broker is your friend not your enemy, and prices are the same for people buying from you as for those selling to you.

On your new character you should do the following -

1: Take your inn room and place the biggest boxes you can afford in the broker slots. You need all the selling space you can get

2: Sell on the broker all treasured items that drop and all adept spells that you do not need. This alone will net you enough money to cover armour and spells. ANY treasured item is worth gold beause transmuters need them even if they are rubbish.

3: Collect shinies, all of them. Use the ones you want (some give decent items as rewards even, the shard collections for instance) and sell the others if they are worth gold on the broker. Many shinies are worth very very good money indeed. Do NOT neglect this source of income.

4: Whether you tradeskill or not, at the very least skill up on ore harvesting and gathering. Those rare metals and even some common metals and roots will sell for good money at all tiers (blackened iron chain sells for a plat, a blackened iron cluster will sell for 50g) and you will be glad you did at later levels. Also if you get the rares you can hire a crafter to make the stuff.

5: If you want to take it more seriously then craft.. either choose the class that makes your own spells or your own armour, or something to purely make money. Mastercraft armour and spells of all kinds will never fail to sell!

Yes, price inflation has occurred throughout the player economy, but apart from making quest reward money very poor, it makes no real difference to you as a player. You sell and buy in the same market.

After a couple of days with a character you should have at least a plat or so and it is all up from there.

As for the inevitable ripoff merchants.. Dont buy overpriced items, learning what is good value and what is a ripoff is part of playing an MMO with a market. If it looks expensive then check out some other similiar tier/strength items and assess whether you really need it. For instance many people try to burn you on level 10 iron chain armour.. they know it is always wanted and not many people make it so they sell it for 10+ gold a piece or whatever. It is not worth more than a couple of gold a piece, so either make your own or let it sit there and live with vendor chain till you see drops or other stuff out there.

Well, let me be the first to say welcome back to you, and hello and welcome to your friend!

Of all the comments here, not a one has offered up the following thought.

Maybe the Bazaar server isn't the one for you.

I currently play on Antonia Bayle. Yeah, I know..one of the roleplay servers. But I don't r/p, just respect those who do.

There are folk on this server that have high prices too. But there are also folks like me, who remember that not everyone is a twink. As a result, I am not rolling in plat like some folk, but my broker banks are almost always empty and my coin purse has enough to get my by. I remember what it was like to be new.

We recently had someone join our Guild. I made a set of T2 armor for him, and the Guild donated bags and boxes, and someone is helping with his spells. While he was out and about he posted in our chat that some random player had gifted him a plat and what did he do now!

So, perhaps what you and your friend may want to do is entertain a peek at some of the other servers. Try to log in during your premium play time and see how many folks are playing. Yes, there will be high prices. Yes, some folks will be grabby and greedy. But put them on ignore and keep looking. Do keep in mind, though, that these other servers don't offer cash for coin options like Bazaar.

It's a lot like real life - you meet different kinds of folks everyday.

Give yourselves and your server home a chance. I am sure you will find a great majority of folk to be generous and helpful, and doing what most of us do - making the game fun!

Feel free to look me up on Antonia Bayle.
