hello everyone, i have just recently come back to the game and i have noticed that some mobs now do double attacks, sometimes two to three times ina row and my health just drops massively. I play a 66 assassin and i was wonderring if there is anything that can be done to lower the chance of double attacks.

i know some mmorpgs stats such as agility and mitigation help to diminish these and eliminate the chances altogether. I am wearing either mastercrafted/handcrafted or treasured/legendary items all within a few levels of me.

My agility is 323

mitigation is 1697

avoidance 3514

Is there anything that i can do to diminish the chance of this occuring or am i just in for alot of deaths

Thank you

In general, you can't lower a mob's DA rate. Now some of the 80th level void shard jewelry sets have a -5% DA proc that can hit a mob you're attacking, but that's about it.

If you're dying to mobs as an assassin, then it means that either you're not stun locking the mobs, your dps is too low since your stuns run out before the mob is dead, or you have sub-par defenses. Based on your commentary, I'm guessing that you've ventured into Kylong Plains zone for the RoK expansion. Reaching that zone is like hitting a brick wall for most newer players. Either you'll learn to adapt and increase your player abilities or you'll get burnt out on the game. There's really no in between.

Make sure that you're running full mastercraft weapons, armor, and jewelry. During one of the revamps, they added +CA on the 50's and 60's armor (so it would be similar to the level 72 RoK grade mastercraft). Also make sure that you're running ALL Ad3 (Expert) level abilities. RoK was play tested based on using all Ad3, so using anything less is intentionally causing yourself some issues.

If you've got the TSO expansion, you can lower the reuse timer on your Cheap Shot ability via AA. That should also help you stun lock mobs while you shred through them. Also don't forget that there's a lvl 62 (blue) stun poison that you can use with your Caustic (red) dps poison.

Best of luck. Soloing in RoK felt like a different world when I leveled up my brigand. The Moors zone in TSO is also going to be a similar escalation from RoK difficulty. Kill or kill not. There is no try.

Hokay, I went and took a look at your profile (http://eq2players.station.sony.com/characters/character_profile.vm?characterId=192322107)

You are a level 70 assassin. As an assassin, your key stat is STRENGTH. Agility makes your power pool, but all your gear will have AGI on it. STR powers your autoattacks.

Cloak: you are wearing the T5 rare crafted healer/caster cloak (aITEM -1199064351 678852627:Carmine Linen Wanderer's Cloak/a). You can do a LOT better.

Check the broker, but the Clandestine Dragon's Breath Adventurer's Cloak (aITEM -1616413770 346541063:Clandestine Dragon's Breath Adventurer's Cloak/a) or the Pristine Clandestine Damask Cloak (aITEM 119522590 -1387355407:Pristine Clandestine Damask Cloak/a) are way better.

Chest: You are wearing the COMMON handcrafted T7 pristine imbued adamantine chainmail coat (aITEM -120112297 -897435856:pristine imbued adamantine chainmail coat/a).

As an assassin, you'll always want the imbued chainmail, made in the rare. Or better.

Now that so may people are killing stuff in TOMC, keep an eye out for someone selling an Illforged Tunic -- see if you can get one now and hold on to it until you are old enough to wear it:

Shoulders: The Darkscale Pauldrons (aITEM -937488144 1584058988:Darkscale Pauldrons/a) you have on aren't too bad. The Opulent line of gear is trash loot. It's in the game so transmuters have something to crush. Don't go for gear with just STA - STR and STA is OK, but STR should be your first choice, then STA.

aITEM -1123799728 -1215438592:[pristine xegonite chainmail bracers]/a are MUCH better

Hands: The T6 Gloves of Subtle Strength (aITEM -657483565 -1881361359:Gloves of Subtle Strength/a) are outdated. You need an upgrade.

I'd suggest:

Waist: You are wearing the T5 Waistband of Haste (aITEM -83741329 -1319312408:Waistband of Haste/a). Better choices include:

Meanwhile, save up and be purchasing the chokidai collars for the Chokiadai Collar Collection, which gives you this handy level 80 belt:

Legs: Did you just tell us you were out wearing your undies in public??!! (aITEM -130663930 -1765918682:Teren Scout Thermals/a) Seriously, Fruit of the Loom does a better pair. However, until they get a Norrathian franchise, may I suggest:

Feet: The Feet of Srykrachis (aITEM 234107866 -1451215593:Feet of Spykrachis/a) were great... at T6. You need an upgrade.

Your jewelry is just sad. Shop the jeweler and see what's out there. Look for stuff that increases your STR, melee crit, double attack, and so forth. A set of mastercrafted acrylia jewelry would probably be a big improvment, and downright cheap if you get out and harvest it yourself. Fear tainted Isle in Tenebrous Tangle is an excellent spot for this.

For xegonite, I recommend the temple area on Gazer Island in Tenebrous Tangle.

Right now both of your charm slots are an utter and complete waste. Both of them should have some useful charm there. Poisons shopuld always stay in yoru bacg and you use it from there. The sokokor pet should never be in a charm slot. I recommend you fix this by going first to Everfrost and in the Bitterwind Trench, find a fellow named Thyr Stormhammer and do a series of quests to get this charm:

For your second charm slot, I'd probably go with one of these:

Or use two hex dollies!

Why are you using two slashing weapons? And why are you using two weapons with different delay values? I would recommend getting and using two different types of weapons - one slashing, one piercing. That helps you skill up both types of attack.

You want the delay to be the same so both weapons hit at the same time for your autoattack, and then in the delay period you want enough time to fire off one or two combat arts.

So I'd suggest one of the following pairs:

(3 second) imbued xegonite crescent axe and imbued xegonite short spear

(4 second) imbued xegonite stiletto and imbued xegonite flamberge

(5 second) imbued xegonite kris and imbued xegonite assault axe

You should also be using several types of poison all at once. Usually you can use one of each color, and I am sure the scouts here will all have useful opinions about what's best for an assassin.

well thanks for all the info, i left the game for a number of years so im way out of date on alot of stuff including theb asics, but i do have in my bags right now a full 72 mastercraft set although i admit i need to change weapon typs, i just went with 2 slashing because its what i had on hand and what was cheapest when i got back.

the difference in delay values i didnt notice when i bought the slow one because i was just too dumb to look, but the ones i have now in my bags are both 1.6 second delays

i am a little under halfway through 71 so if i can plow through it ill have the mastercrafted gear which im hoping will tide meo ver until i can find some of the other items you listed

thanks again

yes go for the incarnadine mastercrafted, it tends to be dirt cheap

Slow, matched speed weapons on any melee class is where it is at, 4.0 delay is the usual suggested delay.

Poisons, you may or may not remeber that you can be using three of them at a time when using player crafted

I forget if Assassins mainly go hemotoxin or caustic for red. for my own soloing I usually go vitality breech, and one of the others for groups. Whichever of the purple ones strikes your fancy. For blue when soloing I use fettering or stupifying ( might have to go with 60's poision for stupifying ) , and in groups Ignorant Bliss.

Welcome back, and have fun =D

oh, and Slashers vs Piercers really does not matter, use the best weapons you can find/afford.

-----

edit: Put some food and drink with long duration and appropriate stats in your food and drink slot.

Put something with stats in your charm slots, it does not have to be good, it just has to show you are trying.

You can go back and run the new everfrost questlines for a one charmslot. And fill the other charmslot with the new lavastorm collections. If you can get all of the new lavastorm collections, you can collect the rewards and get a very nice charmslot =D

Remeber youse is Ratonga, so you have the advantages!!! Ratonga Forevers!!!! Ra Ra Ratonga!!!

If you are a lvl 70 assassin already i would just save your money (so u can get ya spells made right away && afford your pvp set) and lvl to 80 .. Once you hit 80 go zerg at TG for a week and own a full set of the avatar gear...err..i mean pvp gear..sadly their practically giving it away nowadays .. thats why u see low aa toons wearing mc and treasured jewlery along side a full set of pvp gear.. if they can do it so can u..just save ya money..

Or..better yet pvp some of your way to 80.. when u hit 80 you'll have a full set of raid ready gear and possibly some jewlery .. after that..soloing your epic quest should be no problem..

regards,

xaviour
