Has any other SK's been having a hard time tanking this named or add's?? Finally got to him this weekend and no matter what I keep getting hit so hard so fast I can't stay up for more than 60 sec or so. I have no problem tanking anything else in the zone with 5 T3 pieces now, mit usually 64% and avoid 10 to 11k. We have a guard that doesn't have that much T3 yet so I'm still doing all the MT work but he can stay up perfectly fine and wonder if anyone might have ideas on what I may need to change?? Cuzar on Butcherblock.

What kind of healers are you running with?

Yeah i kinda know what you are talking about. Allthough i haven't been passed Dayakara yet.... I know that my paly friend takes hits alot better than i do. I know the paly myth reduces and heals all dmg by like 10% maybe? Where he might only need one healer in a hard instances, and i will need two ...lol ...I am just hoping when i get better gear that i will be able to take solo heals with me.

That night we had a templar, defiler, fury and warden split between the two tanks.

We never go in with more than 3 healers, so I'm not sure how in the world 4 would not be able to keep a tank in almost all T3 gear up.

I'm assuming that you, dying as you said you were, tried switching to defensive stance for the fight, and that your jewelry is defensive in nature and not all +DPS gear...

In that case, something is wrong with your healers. That would be my best guess.

How did you distribute the healers? Templar and defiler in MT group, both druids in the OT group? Were the druids in the OT group using their heals on the MT and not just trying to keep their own group up? Did you have an enchanter and bard in the MT group? How good are the healers?

Yeah, sounds like the problem was with the healers. Hard to say what they were doing wrong or not doing but ive seen Grush single tanked by at least 3 different SKs...some with only 2-3 T3 items. We usually have 4 healers but have done it with 3. Plate/Chain/(sometimes leather) in MT group and Chain or Leather in 2nd group.

As with everything else in TSO...curing is critical.

64% mit sounds kinda low with 5 pieces of t3. And your healers must be horrible. I could almost solo heal a tank with 5 t3 pieces through most of that zone...I can break over 65% mit on my guard without temporary stuff with only one healer btw...nothing but t2 gear. Did you roll on any t3 tanking gear or just the dps stuff?

it sounds liek either your healers are the problem or you are missing something in the strat. If you are ok for a while then all of a sudden you just spike and splat then your healers might be too close to the aoes and getting stunned so they cannot heal you. Learn the AoEs the mob has and avoid them till you guys are a bit stronger. they have very distinct casting animations so if you pay attention you can get all your DPS out of there.

Which healers are in your group specifically. What healer is in which group matters.

What can happen is if you have a mystic/defiler in your group, I think some of their wards are eaten up by group members who fail to joust out properly. So, if they don't joust, they eat your wards, and you can die. That happened to me before (paladin), and when I swapped out the defiler for a warden I had no issue. Although, with four healers you shouldn't have an issue anyway, unless they weren't focused on healing and were trying to do damage.

As for 64% mit being low, I suppose it is if you aren't in offensive stance, but in offensive stance it is fairly high. For instance, my paladin (who is in 7 t4) is about 65.6% mit in offensive before buffs. Tanking in defensive is often a waste, but I suppose you could try it. Still, this is speaking as a paladin, so probably 64% in defensive for a SK isn't bad either. I still say that it has to do with group wards being eaten up by people failing to joust... it often helps to have someone call out jousting in raid voice chat. I know that's what I always had my dirge friend do when I would run through WOE.

Also, make sure you are using raid food with the % avoidance on it.

Sry for the necro... forgot to look at the date...

The first time I went to WoE, I was in full T2 gear... we got to Grush, and we wiped. We tried again... same thing. The third time, someone off tanked one of the adds and we finally got past him.

After that I was hesitant to do the zone thinking it was me and my SK that were doing an inadequate job.

A couple weeks later, I went again, with no off tank, and I had absolutely no problems tanking. The healers definitely make all the difference in the world on this encounter.

I don't know if it's possible for someone to solo heal this encounter (maybe if the tank is full t4, and the healer is geared to hell... who knows)

I've been back a few times since with significantly better gear (3-T3, and 3-T4 pieces and some nice jewelry items) and I love this encounter. A few nice taunts, position the mobs, afk a bit, and watch the 3 mobs die.

The most important lession I've learned in this game is... it doesn't matter how great you are or your gear is, nothing compares to having a decent group of skilled players. Learn what the other classes bring to the table and take advantage of it.
