When I start the EQ2 launcher it takes probably 20 seconds or more before it starts.

I recently started my account again and have windows 7 but don't remember this problem under vista.

I do run as administrator and had to choose xp sp2 compatability mode for it to work with windows 7.

I read at one time the station laucher runs faster but EQ2 is the only game I play.

Is anyone running windows 7 and not having a problem getting the launcher to start right away?

Thanks for replying. The reason I run it in compatabilty mode is so I dont have to right click and run as admin to start it.

Even if I check the box to run as admin it wont unless I right click every time so I run compatabilty mode.

I do have 8 gigs of ram and do not run anti virus but rather use a program that doesnt scan on the fly.

The lag time is more of an anoyance as I didn't have this problem with Vista.

I will test the station launcher for giggles to see if its faster with windows 7 and report back later.

***

Ok I did download the station launcher and it does start right away when clicked even without admin privlages.

I must say though that I miss all the cool graphics you see with the old launchpad. The station one is just bland, ugly and bloated.

Also I don't like that it just sits in the taskbar even after you close it. I'll give it a go for awhile and see if I like it. I did read this post by someone I assume is a Dev on the station forum named DanKinney

Posted 10/18/09

I understand your frustration. We are taking more drastic steps on our efforts to improve the situation. I am not proud of our current version at all either.

-dan

His issues with the station laucher may be different than mine. Any other ideas about the old laucher are appreciated. I forgot to mention I am running the RTM version of 7.

Running in compatibility mode should not have any effect on whether or not you need to run as an administrator. If you want to configure the game so that you don't need to run as an admin then you can move the game outside of the program files directory and/or turn off the UAC.

Regarding the way it minimizes to the taskbar on close, I don't think there is an option to disable that at the moment.
