Well came back to EQ2 at that wrong time. Played for a bit and since the last update have had troubles zoning all the time and getting booted...then get the message that you have a character in game and have to wait. I don't have the issue with the size of EQ2, and am not running any of the new drivers.

Please fix soon.

Thanks

It might help if you post more stuff on your end... Perhaps a Dxdiag and tracert.

A few things to try if having trouble after an update. Remove any EQ2 exceptions to your firewall program and then add them again. If the patcher changed at all in the update, then your firewall may no longer recognize it.

Cycle your modem/router

If these do not help, post more info on your system please

Here is some information on my system/trace/ping. I have not changed anything in my system for a long time. I do have a station pass and the game runs better with just EQ2 w/o station launcher. I have firewall turned on my NIC but have exceptions for the game files, etc...When I do a tracert without going to file the timeouts are worse.

Windows IP Configuration

        Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : computer-5db80cca

        Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :

        Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown

        IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

        WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

        Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC

        Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1F-D0-D7-E2-6B

        Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No

        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.10

        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2

        DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 209.74.232.1

                                            209.74.232.2

Tracing route to ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 19 ms 19 ms 19 ms huntel-dhcp-05.sms1800.blr.huntel.net [67.222.192.1]

  2 19 ms 19 ms 19 ms gi1-37.noc6509.blr.huntel.net [209.74.230.41]

  3 20 ms 18 ms 28 ms vlan101.occ6509.omh.huntel.net [209.74.239.211]

  4 17 ms 19 ms 19 ms 64.253.187.105

  5 37 ms 32 ms 34 ms 66.37.238.229

  6 31 ms 36 ms 37 ms mtc1dsrj01-ge706.0.rd.om.cox.net [68.13.15.13]

  7 85 ms 85 ms 85 ms 68.1.2.212

  8 61 ms 59 ms 59 ms vl47.ashaens-2.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.181]

  9 * 57 ms 60 ms ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

Trace complete.

Tracing route to ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

  0 turner-5db80cca [192.168.1.10]

  1 huntel-dhcp-05.sms1800.blr.huntel.net [67.222.192.1]

  2 gi1-37.noc6509.blr.huntel.net [209.74.230.41]

  3 vlan101.occ6509.omh.huntel.net [209.74.239.211]

  4 64.253.187.105

  5 66.37.238.229

  6 mtc1dsrj01-ge706.0.rd.om.cox.net [68.13.15.13]

  7 68.1.2.212

  8 vl47.ashaens-2.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.181]

  9 * * *

Computing statistics for 225 seconds...

            Source to Here This Node/Link

Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address

  0 turner-5db80cca [192.168.1.10]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  1 18ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% huntel-dhcp-05.sms1800.blr.huntel.net [67.222.192.1]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  2 21ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% gi1-37.noc6509.blr.huntel.net [209.74.230.41]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  3 23ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% vlan101.occ6509.omh.huntel.net [209.74.239.211]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  4 26ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 64.253.187.105

                                2/ 100 = 2% |

  5 34ms 3/ 100 = 3% 1/ 100 = 1% 66.37.238.229

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  6 35ms 2/ 100 = 2% 0/ 100 = 0% mtc1dsrj01-ge706.0.rd.om.cox.net [68.13.15.13]

                                2/ 100 = 2% |

  7 --- 100/ 100 =100% 96/ 100 = 96% 68.1.2.212

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  8 92ms 4/ 100 = 4% 0/ 100 = 0% vl47.ashaens-2.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.181]

                               96/ 100 = 96% |

  9 --- 100/ 100 =100% 0/ 100 = 0% computer-5db80cca [0.0.0.0]

Trace complete.

Thanks for any advice/help.

Small update...now it is hanging on patcher updating section - just hangs at updating. Update 2: Did a full scan and was able to login...took a long time...then hung for a long time on "loging into zone server"Update 3: Got booted again zoning on first try...enough frustration for one night...hope I get a fix soon

I really think there has been a change with the last patch that has caused these but I could be wrong.

Greetings,

Are you crashing out to character select or to desktop? I don't see that mentioned in your post and that will tell us if it's a connection issue or not. Also, do you have a firewall on that computer?

I am crashing to character selection screen...then I can't reenter the game for a few minutes...says I have a character in game, etc...

I don't have a firewall other then the windows firewall turned on with the game/client setup as an exception. I have not changed anything on my system for weeks.

Thank you for any help.

The problem you're describing sounds like it could be a router issue. I would advise bypassing your router and plugging your computer directly into the modem as a first step. If you try that and it corrects your issue then you'll need to configure your router if you wish to continue using it.The following site has great information about router configuration:http://www.portforward.com/english/...routerindex.htmSimply select the router you are using, then select the 'skip this advertisement' button in the upper right, and finally select Everquest 2 on the following page. You will then be presented with a walkthrough on how to forward the correct ports. Please respond if you need any further assistance.

I hope you are correct since I will have to purchase a new router/nat device. My DSL modem doesn't provide that function. I am curious though why I would need this when nothing has changed on my end and other MMO's including SWG and VG still work without these issues. Could you explain further why this would happen now?

I have removed my router from the configuration and am now setup with my computer running XP sp3 and using only my DSL modem. I am still having really slow response times/major lag...when I click on a ? to collect (in the sprawl) it takes a few seconds before anything happens. I also am crashing to char screen 1/3 of the time while zoning. Here is a new set of information.

Windows IP Configuration

        Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : turner-5db80cca

        Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :

        Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown

        IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

        WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

        DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : huntel.net

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : huntel.net

        Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC

        Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1F-D0-D7-E2-6B

        Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes

        Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 67.222.193.246

        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.240.0

        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 67.222.192.1

        DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 209.74.232.1

        DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 209.74.232.1

                                            209.74.232.2

        Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Wednesday, October 21, 2009 7:57:37 PM

        Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, October 22, 2009 7:57:37 AM

Tracing route to ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 24 ms 24 ms 25 ms huntel-dhcp-05.sms1800.blr.huntel.net [67.222.192.1]

  2 27 ms 24 ms 28 ms gi1-37.noc6509.blr.huntel.net [209.74.230.41]

  3 24 ms 24 ms 27 ms vlan101.occ6509.omh.huntel.net [209.74.239.211]

  4 27 ms 24 ms 24 ms 64.253.187.105

  5 167 ms 213 ms 203 ms 66.37.238.229

  6 38 ms * 41 ms mtc1dsrj01-ge706.0.rd.om.cox.net [68.13.15.13]

  7 91 ms 90 ms 99 ms 68.1.2.212

  8 73 ms 68 ms 70 ms vl47.ashaens-2.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.181]

  9 * * * Request timed out.

10 * * 67 ms ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

Trace complete.

Tracing route to ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

  0 turner-5db80cca.huntel.net [67.222.193.246]

  1 huntel-dhcp-05.sms1800.blr.huntel.net [67.222.192.1]

  2 gi1-37.noc6509.blr.huntel.net [209.74.230.41]

  3 vlan101.occ6509.omh.huntel.net [209.74.239.211]

  4 64.253.187.105

  5 66.37.238.229

  6 mtc1dsrj01-ge706.0.rd.om.cox.net [68.13.15.13]

  7 68.1.2.212

  8 vl47.ashaens-2.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.181]

  9 * * ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

Computing statistics for 225 seconds...

            Source to Here This Node/Link

Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address

  0 turner-5db80cca.huntel.net [67.222.193.246]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  1 24ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% huntel-dhcp-05.sms1800.blr.huntel.net [67.222.192.1]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  2 26ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% gi1-37.noc6509.blr.huntel.net [209.74.230.41]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  3 28ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% vlan101.occ6509.omh.huntel.net [209.74.239.211]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  4 36ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 64.253.187.105

                                1/ 100 = 1% |

  5 40ms 2/ 100 = 2% 1/ 100 = 1% 66.37.238.229

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  6 41ms 2/ 100 = 2% 1/ 100 = 1% mtc1dsrj01-ge706.0.rd.om.cox.net [68.13.15.13]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  7 --- 100/ 100 =100% 99/ 100 = 99% 68.1.2.212

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  8 99ms 1/ 100 = 1% 0/ 100 = 0% vl47.ashaens-2.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.181]

                               57/ 100 = 57% |

  9 67ms 58/ 100 = 58% 0/ 100 = 0% ableq2-02-01.everquest2.com [199.108.202.65]

In addition I have done a full scan. When I am in game, one example is when I hit U for guild information it takes 5-15 seconds before the names appear for each guild when I move from guild to guild.

Thank you for any additional help.

What kind of network card are you using with that computer? Is it integrated on the motherboard or is it a PCI card? If you're using a PCI NIC, can you try using the one integrated on the motherboard? Also, I would advise checking if any updates are available for the NIC and your motherboard and install them if so. Please let me know if the issue persists at that point.

I am using the onboard Realtek card. I have also tested with a Dell Laptop and have come up with some better results but also have determined that it apprears to be Permafrost for the most part. I have been playing tonight and got booted. tested on both with Tracert to permafrost and have issues...tried tracert to unrest and no issues at all...created a toon on unrest, no issues.

Is it possible that Permafrost is having issues based on this?

We have a hotfix coming out next week that might help alleviate the problem you're experiencing. We did find an issue that could cause someone to crash while zoning, but its hard to say if this is the same problem you are having.

Im really hoping you devs have, by now, come to the conclusion that this is a game wide issue, and half the people I talk to crash on a regulaer basis, including myself. I had no problems whatsoever prior to GU53. The fact that Im actually here posting after two years should hopefully give some credence to the problem. We would all really appreciate serious attention to this problem. Ive never even seen the "blue screen of death" on my PC until GU53. /sigh
