Hey guyz, just bought a new PC mainly for EQ2 & AoC, going to begin the lengthy install of EQ when I get back home, just wandering how well my system would perform on EQ2?

Core I7 920 pre OC'd to 3.8ghz, 6gb DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHZ, and a Nvidia GTX 285. Will be runnin on windows vista 64 bit with a 22 inch monitor @ 1920x1080 res.

Been scanning the forums and saw that some peeps have had problems with the i7's and hyperthreading, does anyone know if this has been fixed / any solutions? Also seen that a few peeps have been having problems with the GTX 285 crashing / black screens etc, has Nvidia or SOE released any drivers/patches to fix this?

Thx in Advance

I think you're going to be extremely happy with your performance. The game in extreme quality and shadows up is absolutely gorgeous. I get to play it with maxed out settings most of the time, unless I go somewhere very populated. Most of the time I am soloing and the scenery is gorgeous.

I run with a Wolfdale E8600 @ 3.33 ghz

4 mb Dominator Ram w/ heatsink

Vista 64

24inch Monitor.

I think people have different views on what's playable and what's not. With me the game feels jerky on anything under 45-50 FPS. I like to keep it at 60 FPS most of the time, most computers out there can't handle extreme quality with foliage and shadows and still hit 60 FPS most of the time, I generally keep my PC at High Quality or Balanced with Shadows off to obtain 60 FPS just about everywhere, sometimes raiding or in Qeynos it will drop down to mid-high 40's. I'm running the below setup.

Intel Q8300 Overclocked to 3.0 GHZ

8 gigs DDR

2 x Geforce 9800 GTX+ in SLI

ASRock 780i Motherboard

750 Watt OCZ Power Supply.

Honestly the video card doesn't really make much difference at all in this game, I can run the game with a single card and still get the same FPS. Having SLI enabled the game does look brighter, and the colors more vibrant but thats' about it. So your GTX 285 is really not going to matter at all. At least not with EQ2. You should be able to play on Extreme Quality just fine, but don't expect to get 50-60 FPS all the time. EQ2 is not very friendly with Quadcore. You'd be better off having a Dualcore running at 3.8 GHZ then Quadcore.

I'm running a system with a QX6850 Extreme @ 3.3, 8 gigs OCZ 800, and the BFG GTX 285 OC+ on a old school 80 gig Raptor with Windows 7 64 and my frame rates aren't that great.

I get 40 FPS on average on high settings without any particles enabled in 1920x1080, but they drop down to 18-19 FPS quite often, especially in zones like Moors.

I'm upgrading to a X25-M Intel SSD next week. I know it won't change FPS, but I'm curious to see what it does with load times when I install EQ2 on it.

Pretty happy with it, can play Extreme quality full specs with decent frame rates in most zones, though when i hit KP i get loadsa lag and gotta turn the graphics down. QH and Moors are a bit laggy too, but on the whole its good. Just a shame i cant overclock a bit more, ended up going for 3.6ghz so its completely stable.

I 100% do not believe people can sustain even 30 fps, let alone more, with everything maxed out. Particle effects and lighting absolutely kill framerate.

On my i7 with 8gb ram, 5850 on the intel g2 I can play with most stuff maxed out, shadows off (until they're fixed) with 4x aa 8x af and get between 20 and 60 fps at 1920x1200, but that is with particles basically off and limited lighting. If I turn either of those up it becomes a slideshow.

I put the solid state drive in yesterday and installed EQ2 on it. Load times seem to be cut down quite a bit. Especially when starting up the game.
