Everytime I try to use Station Launcher to start up EQII I get this error:

There was a problem confirming the checksum for the file C:Program Files (x86)SonyEverQuest IIlp_temppaksChar_SOGA.vpk_delta_8123_4.patched. Please try again. If the problem persists use the Help menu above for more info and help.

Station launcher will try again after 30 seconds.

I have tried uninstalling the launcher and a couple other fixes found on this site, but it's been forever now and I still can not get it working. I can start the game by using the .exe file from the sony folder, but not through launcher

Any Ideas?

I am on a Vista Machine that is fully updated and am running launcher as the admin.

Greetings,

In most cases this can be resolved by deleting -only- the file that is listed. If you uninstall the game then it might load an earlier version before updating, reproducing the error. Please keep in mind that when the error mentions LegendsOfNorrath.dll_delta_8332_100.patched, you are actually looking for LegendsOfNorrath.dll. The file path should be listed in the error message. Please let us know if the issue persists after deleting the file.

If the problem persists use the Help menu above for more info and help.

if it helps I am running vista, and have tried running it as admin and that doesnt help.

Specifically, I think it is being caused by the extra security that windows places on the program files folder. If that is the case then you have 2 options.

1 - Move the game out of the program files directory. Something like C:GamesEverquest 2 would work.

2 - Turn off the User Account Controls(UAC). That is the specific security feature that is probably blocking the update. Sadly, I can't walk you through turning that off. It is very easy to do it, though, and you can probably find a walkthrough online.
