Patcher says "Update Complete" but Play button still appears as "Updating"

<p>Hi, I just reinstalled using the RoK install discs. I haven't even patched the game yet. I ran EQ2, logged in <em>using a trial account</em> (wanted to test how the game is running, etc, before resubbing), and it started scanning files. That completed and it says Download Complete under the two progress bars. The large button directly under that, which usually reads "Play," is still grayed out and says "Updating." Under the "Updating" button is the word "Download," which I have clicked and it does something for a moment then stops and I'm back where I started.</p><p>Any idea what's going on or how to fix it? I have tried a full scan but that did nothing. Is it because I'm on a trial account or is there some error?</p>

<p>It seems the Vista sticky has solved my problems. I did not originally think Vista was at fault. I have installed on this machine before and didn't have a problem. I also had run as adminstrator checked, so I didn't think that was it. This is why I did not initialy seek help in that sticky, but out of desperation I checked it and found that disabling UAC like it suggested seems to have fixed it.</p><p>Sorry to congest the forum with another topic that could have been solved with a sticky.</p>

<p>For anyone else experiencing this issue, I would not recommend turning off UAC as a first step.  I generally consider that as a last resort.  First I would recommend starting the game by right clicking and selecting 'run as administrator'.  Starting the game that way actually works differently than setting is to run as an admin through the compatibility options.  If that doesn't work then try moving the game to a different folder that is not the program files directory.  That should clear up any issues that weren't resolved by running as an admin.</p>
