I'm on a hotel connection. I play quite frequently at hotels, and never have a problem connecting (other than when the hotel's server gets bogged down). I have no problem browsing the 'net. I get to the patch screen ok, but when trying to connect to the zone server, i get thrown to character select. I've tried several times over a couple hours and have had no luck. I called tech support to see if they were blocking any types of online games, and they said no. Any suggestions?

TBH , it really sounds like a port blocking problem somewhere , perhaps a firewall...

It certainly does sound like a connection issue, but there's one way to be certain - can you run these tests on the hotel connection and PM me the results in the generated file?

--

Please open up the Start menu in Windows, choose the Run command, type "command" in the space provided, then hit Enter. If you're using Win2k type "cmd" instead of command. For Vista, "type command" at the search bar on the bottom of the Start Menu. The MS-DOS Prompt window should appear with the prompt, "C:windowsdesktop". For Win98/ME or Win2K/XP/Vista, type the following three DOS commands, one at a time, hitting Enter between each command, and waiting for the prompt to reappear: ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt tracert najena.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt For those indicating an issue with the French server (Storms), please include the following traceroute as connectivity to it varies from the US based servers/datacenters: tracert storms.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt And for those indicating an issue with the German server (Valor), please include the following traceroute as connectivity to it varies from the all our other servers/datacenters: tracert valor.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt Please run these commands if you are using Win2k/XP/Vista (Only for Win2k/XP) pathping unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt pathping najena.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt pathping befallen.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt (This may take a few minutes to complete) Finally, upon completion of these commands, you will find a file labeled "eq2info.txt" on the root level of your C: drive. You can use the Find command from the Start menu to locate it. Open up a PM to me and copy/paste all the information in the txt file so I can look into it further.

--
