View Full Version : Client crash message but don't actually crash

My wife and I both bought and built new systems (Exactly the same - Drivers included) and when we click "Play" and before we get in game we both get the client crash screen but we don't actually crash. We are sent into the game and can play. When we camp to desktop, the client crash message is there and we just click the report button and it does it's thing then goes away.

If we click the message when it first appears to get rid of it we crash to DT. If we leave it alone we can play.

She did actually crash to DT once without clicking after first seeing it

but every other time it was as described above. Anyone else seeing this?

If so is there a fix..

Thanks in advance..

EDIT: Just to clarify, we are not getting any out of memory messages... just the same ole client crash window.

I've been getting the same thing. Started happening when I updated my video drivers earlier this week...I haven't tried to roll back the drivers to see if it stops though.

Seems to happen to me more often if I use the station launcher than if I use the old launcher.

I have an Nvidia 8600 something.

I don't know about getting past updates tbh.

I will check the Nvidia site and un-install the current driver and load previous if I can find it.

Thanks

Posted this on a related thread for more exposure:

I've been getting the same thing for the last few days as well. But, while the game is loading I can take the error message window and slide it over out of the way to the left of the screen and continue playing, seemingly indefinately. This includes zoning, and changing charactors. I made an eq2 temp folder and cut/pasted the cache folder into it, but that had no effect.

I have been having other problems with my system since last week--the dreaded Windows Police Pro virus (and others) and ended up doing the Security Tango to get rid of all of them. Also had to reinstall windows and nvidia and sound blaster drivers, too. I thought it was due to all I have been through (virus wise) until I read that so many other seem to be having the same issue.

Just add my name to the throng. 8o(

I loaded the previous driver version (190 I believe) on my wifes system and this issue went away so it does appear that the 191 drivers are the cause of this..

I also have this same behavior. I get the EQ2 Client Application has encountered a problem-please report this to Microsoft pop-up everytime I start the client now while it is loading. This type of crashing started for me on the evening of Oct 7th which was the day the 5949L client was released and I installed the Nvidia 191.07 drivers.

This new type of crash is at least kind of "nice" in that the client process continues to run until I click one of the Send/Don't Send option.

Though if I stay logged in long enough I will get one of the other client crashes - DirectX error - Acccess memory - client just closes.
