As a newbie Brig I am considering how to use the early AA's. From looking at early days posts, there seemed to be a religious war about which of these to use. I thought I would do some quickie math to look at this:

Lets assume DW weapons of 100 dps each == DW dps = 150

MC from STR AA's is 13.6% which means it will add 30% * 13.6% to dps = 4.08% extra dps = 156 dps

Lets assume SW weapon of 100 dps

68% DA means SW auto-attack dps is 168 dps

so the question is: does 4% extra CA dps make up for 7.2% less autoattack dps? It depends upon what % of total damage is due to CA's --

First off when discussing AA, I will go on the assumption that you've already spent at least (6) AA in the KoS tree so that you currently have least Walk the Plank (Rank 1). Also I'm far too tired to tear about your math and look for any potential errors, so I'm going to answer based on design theory.

Which is more beneficial? Based on my own investigations and experiences, the rule of thumb is that about 60% of your dps comes from your CA and the rest from auto attacks and procs. Though in the top grade world of instancing and raiding, your auto attack will become far more important. (This will be due to the sheer hp totals of mobs and the various ways that a brigand can increase their DPS and Double Attack modifiers.)

One of the main keys is that Melee Critical will affect both your auto attack and CA dps. As a result, increasing this stat in the Str tree is basically double dipping into both dps categories. Also due to the low level gear revamp, there is a crazy amount of +CA jewelry between levels 27 - 49. (There are some more pieces in the 50's, but there are sparse and don't always have the best combat stats.) Due to these jewelry pieces, an even high amount of your leveling dps will come from your CA. (Though once you hit about 52 or 62, it becomes more beneficial to switch to MC jewelry. At that point, your gear benefits start to even out.)

Also another key is that by only wielding 1-handed, you're intentionally limiting yourself to a single weapon's slot worth of special abilities and procs. Between MC weapon procs, adornments, and high level weapon special abilties, there are almost always more of mechanical benefits to wielding something in your off hand.

I personally could never convince myself to use the Wisdom line in it's current form. If I was dirt poor on my first EQ2 character and was racing to power level myself to the cap, then I could see using it in the short term. But if you've got the funds (or the time to gather funds), then the Str tree is the way to go. Both my soloing and heroic / raid specs use maxed out melee crit from the Str tree.

On a side note, our Epic (Fabled and Myth) procs a bonus to Double Attack (DA). Also the T1 - T3 shard chest pieces give a +DA proc. Even the Ethernauts TSO blue shinnies reward gives a +DA proc. All together, your procs can quickly make up for some of that lost DA from not taking the Wis line.

The wis line is getting reworked in the big rogue "fix" as it sucks.
