Al'Kabor is a Euradite that is one of the most powerful wizards in Norrath. You can argue exactly where he falls in the line up, but he definately gets thrown in with the rest of the big boys of EQ1. Furthermore the Lore books we got from the recent forum quest say that Al'Kabor is the archatect of the Utherian Spire System. So naming the material its made of after himself makes sense. Al'Kabor wasn't a humble guy, most Euradites arn't.

Kaborite is either void shards, or made from void shards. Its a bit unclear. The Quellthulians have been collecting void shards from us in exchange for powerful items for nearly a year now. We've been retrieving void shards from various places, spread all over Norrath. What exactly a void shard is...again unclear. Origionally you couldn't get them from the void zones themselves. They mostly come from various NPCs, including the Quellthulians themselves. Adding them as drops to OoA and AoB was an afterthought to make the zones more popular.

When I saw this stuff's name, I instantly thought of Cavorite and H.G.Wells First Men on the Moon - An antigravity metal; when it cools, whatever it covers will be impervious to gravitational forces.

We know how Sony love their puns.. I love the one on the docks in Enchanted Lands from the movie "Wizards" by Ralph Bakshi - "Fritz! They killed Fritz! Those dirty, lousy, stinking fairy (b*****ds) killed Fritz!"

the guy heading up the Ulterean Spire Network in the lorebook isn't Al'Kabor, it's El'Arad, the same guy that has the library/dungeon in Barren Sky.
