The game has been totally unplayable since GU53. From a fairly stable performance (crashed about one in 4 ports to guildhall, but hardly every apart from that and usually hardly any lag), it now crashes 80%+ of the time I zone anywhere and frequently within zone. I don't have the newest machine, but for one patch to turn a stable game into something unplayable is terrible. Any tips for solving or fixes on the horizon?

Operating System: Windows Vista Homepack premium

DirectX Version: 10.0

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz

Memory: 3 Gig

Thanks in advance.

My husband and I are both crashing alot still as well... funny to note that we played for 3 weeks before the update(53) and didn't crash once that whole time. Something else weird that I've noticed is the insanely huge amount of data/bandwidth we've been using since the update. After playing for 2 hours, I would check our connection and maybe 10-20 MB sent and recieved, now we crash after an hours play and check it , I swear its anywhere between 100 and 400 MBs... what's up with that? or did I really just not notice it before...

Greetings,

We have seen an increased number of crashes since GU53 since more memory is getting utilized. This is a known issue and Rothgar is posting about it in the following thread:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=459319

I believe they plan to release a fix this week that will lower the amount of memory used by the game. That should bring the game to the level of performance you experienced previously.

The patch this week worked fantastic.... for a day. For the day after the patch I could zone fine into the Guild Hall again and never crashed zoning. Since then, I crash again everytime I zone into the Guild Hall.

Whilst I love the achievement armour appearances and the sliding xp/AA bar, the trade-off of crashing and needing to rebooot everytime I zone to the Guild Hall (evac works even better... it crashes me and doesn't even evac!) and LDs at such a rate that riding is now a liability just isn't worth it.

Whilst I guess market research has suggested that achievements appeal to a certain demographic... grats son... pat on the head for achieving level 50... is there any chance that testing and technical support will be allowed to express a view on the memory implications of fluff features before they go live? <OK not expecting an answer to that question but please regard it as customer feedback>

Seriously though, are there any plans for a more comprehensive fix to the memory issues? Or is the advice that 3 Gig DRAM is insufficient for EQ2 following GU53?

Being a member of the technical support team I do not have detailed information about issue priority or time tables. I would advise watching the thread I posted in my previous response for official updates.

Also, while having more than 3gb of memory couldn't hurt, it's not something I would recommend as a fix. The game was designed with the x86 architecture and can't address memory like a 64-bit application.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep my fingers crossed for a quick fix.
