My complaint here is not with speed and only slightly with the fact that I am sitting at a nearly 20 gig eq2 folder(with 10gigs being the recommended free hard drive space for downloading this may become an issue as I don't really desire to sacrifice my media and website utillities and backups) and counting with a suggested remaining time on the fifth consecutive patch for the shadows download of 242 hours I think I should ask just what the heck is going on? It's very rare that I become beligerant over something as simple as a game i play in my spare time but this is a big first(even running eq I at launch on dial up i never had to worry about 242 hours to wait or for my oh so large 12gig hard drive{Still don't understand how 15 gigs grants 13 gigs storage in all if you are lucky when you buy a hard drive but that's not important!}) Even though dsl isn't as fast as say, fios, i managed to download and patch the aion beta client in less than four hours with my service, so let's not talk speed. I am a fan of the original EQ and tried EQ II at launch but was rather unimpressed, not about quallity but about the seemingly endless amount of bugs and the fact that soe had become so biased toward ati that rendering methods for the more or less identical hardware of that era of ati chipsets would give crappy performance in any setting, i'd only seen a few other games botched on integrations past the original geforce launch. I figured I may as well give the game another go since it seems to have risen from the ashes of being a mediocre and almost unjustifiably low rated game on review sites to being a top choice of many mmorpg oriented gaming communities both by fans and editors.

Rant aside, my question here is what in the world is going on with your patcher? I've been waiting for two days for this thing to download, which I am usually a patient person. But at this point, with a patch that seems almost ungodly large coming down the tube and my hard drive starting to slow down will I even be able to store the rest of this within my remaining 7 gigs of space? Have you considered COMPRESSING these files like 99.9% of other game devs or are you just praying that the fan base is too dumb to notice?

The tech issue at hand is that you need to reconsider the way you distribute your direct digital download unless you are going to offer up some super servers or at least optional media boosters/filters to give at least a stable download through it. I live a ways out from any major city and best buy isn't as common as people seem to believe. I don't feel like waiting an additional week to recieve the game on dvd and I really would rather not have to pay you again for the same everything i should already have right now.. So what do you propose we do here?

You'd save a lot of time and a lot of bad press to offer an option, like say.. MIRROR LINKS?
