yeah they really butchered Kurns Tower. The first floor actually starts out as part of the tower itself, but then it just turns into another dungeon in the Void itself. The dungeon design is just... lame. No originality that makes it any different from the other Void zones. The sky itself is even showing the void.

THERE'S JUST NO EXPLANATION IN LORE OR EXCUSE FOR THIS LAZINESS FOR THE DUNGEON DESIGN!

Liched@Runnyeye wrote:

Anyone know?

Well, lets examine what we know about the recent history of Kurn's tower.

The Haggle Baron cut off communication with his followers amongst the Burnai outside of the tower. He only allows in a few at a time, and they are never seen again. He hasn't taken in any recently. Now we can see a gigantic void anchor attached to the origional tower after Najena's battle in the Ward of Elements.

Just a little suposition here. The Haggle Baron's behavior is consistant with beings converted to vessels for Shadowmen. Most likely he was converted sometime in the last 500 years and started the process of turning Kurn's Tower into a void anchor. Somehow the Shadowmen learned how to do this without making it as obvious as the anchors in the Feerrott or Lesser Faydark. The converted Haggle Baron continued to take offerings and Burnai into the tower as long as he could gain from it. More recently this activity stopped due to the stepped up activity of the void army. Simply put, things were getting too close to completion to risk discovery by letting more beings in and no new vessels/souls/materials were needed to supply the anchor.

the basic gist really is that Najena was studying the Rune of Theer. she found a way through that to 'unveil' the true form of Kurn's Tower and Munzok's anchor in Lavastorm. this lead the Theer instructing Munzok that Najena had become a top priority and to take care of her, thus the invasion/her entrapment in the Ward of Elements.

in the regular instance, Ione tells you that apparently Kurn himself made contact with the Void in an attempt to expand his powerbase. (possibly dabbling in warlock magics as warlocks do summon beings from the void in thier spells) And we don't know between then and now how long exactly the Void has been there. it could very well be that the floors that were 'collapsed' in EQ1 were already being assimilated/restructued and the collapsing was part of the illusion/barrier that we haven't been able to see through or get past until Najena's actions.

and yes, the 'audiences' by the Haggle Baron do fall right in line with the other void zones and how they operate. they capture or lure beings to it and then assimilate/possess/consume them.

When you enter into Kurns Tower, you actually enter into Kurns Tower. Just because it has become a void anchor shouldnt be any reason why you suddenly enter into the Void halfway into the level.

You and I both Cusa

I would assume Kurn's is assisting Ione because he's void corrupted.

And where else does the void have a foothold on Kunark? It would make sence that they would attack somewhere, why not Kurn's Tower?

You have to break his chains while holding Ione and his adds down and then 1 person in the raid gets to take over Kurn's body and use it to dps... its pretty fun actually.
