I keep getting the Network Server is not responding error when I try to log on.

I get all the way to the point where I choose a character, then it tells me "Trying login server #1", etc. and ultimately tells me there aren't any connections available and to try again later. So I would surmise that your title is an accurate statement and once again the Network Status Page has mislead everyone by failing to reflect the status of the login servers.

As of now, there is a scheduled update going in.

If the OP is still having issues after the downtime is complete, you might want to try posting more info such as a tracert or pathping...

Yes, I should apologize. I mis-translated Pacific time. In my defense I had consumed no caffeine at the time. And I'm still grumpy about zoning to character select.

When I first logged on though, the server status page said everything was up (and not locked). It was right around the time the update was to start, so I'm sure 5 seconds later it said they were down.

The servers should be open at this point. Are you still unable to log in? Let me know if you need any assistance.

If the problem persists at that point then it's probably a firewall issue. Open the exception list for your firewall and delete any entries for Everquest 2, EQ2, or launchpad. Then start the game again and select 'allow' when prompted. Let us know if it persists at that point.

I have done everything Live support said to do, and my firewall isn't the issue either. I was able to log in fine before the hotfix, and now, when I log in, it just says that the servers are busy and to try again in a few minutes. Has been going on all day, and is still happening! So, I would really like to know why?!

Oh, and I am on the Runnyeye server, if that helps.

It is common for an issue like this to pop up after a patch because the game client will change. The firewall will stop recognizing the program after an update and will start blocking it. That is what the fix is designed to correct. In that scenario your game will work just fine until an update and the firewall will start to block it. That matches perfectly with the issue you're describing.
