After over 8 months i'm decided to come back to eq2, with a great new computer to boot. I downloaded the game, but ran into little trouble at the launch pad, I remember that I followed the message to a website which had me download "station manager", which worked. I played the game for a little bit (after a few hours of updates) yeserdat and was happy to see the new computer handling the extreme graphics setting nicely (lighting and shadows look awesome). But my main question in this, with this being a new computer and all......

In my program files have have 2 folders. One labeled "Sony" that is 10.4GB large and contains a lot of eq2 file's and
.dll's (no, didnt touch a thing). Then I have another folder right under that labeled "Sony Online Entertainment" that is 9.44GB large and contians eq2 files (much like "Sony" folder) as well as a 'station launcher' folder.

I would never have noticed a thing until I d/l'ed and ran eq2maps and now the old Everquest2 launchpad came up and is downloading (looks like) all the updates that I thought I did yesterday (which propted me to look into the prgrams files, why I did, I dont knw) Did I mess up somewhere? Did I somehow d/l the game twice? Or is this completely normal?Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks much!

Greetings,

You are using the station launcher, correct? If so, open that program and sign in. Then click on the 'station' button, select 'preferences', and then choose 'Everquest II' along the left. In that window you will see the install location on the right. That is the location you are running the game from. You should be able to delete the other folder.

Thank you much sir! I've deleted that file and the game still runs just as great as before. Just out of curoisty (more to prevent me from somehow doing this again) how did I get a double of the game under a different folder?

If you dont know thats fine, I'm just glad I'm back in game

It will then display a list of the folders that already contain the game. If you click continue without selecting one then I believe it will install to a different default directory, though. That is probably what happened in this case.
