How do I solve error in connecting code 41780?

I found this from a while back... Where are you trying to connect from? If it is China, then you may have an issue...<a href="list.m?topic_id=438358">Error 41780 from China</a>If you are not trying to connect from China, it might be a good idea to post a tracert and a pathping. Would someone who works for Sony respond as to why everyone who tries to play EverQuest 2 in China gets error 41780?I don't play myself but this was a birthday present for my son who was looking forward to playing this game. He's very frustrated. Please reply.

Greetings,The major issue with connecting from China is the rampant use of VPN connections. As far as I know, using a VPN is the only way you would receive the 41780 error. I will need to see your specific connection results in this case, though. Please open up the Start menu in Windows, choose the Run command, type "command" in the space provided, then hit Enter. If you're using Win2k type "cmd" instead of command. For Vista, "type command" at the search bar on the bottom of the Start Menu. The MS-DOS Prompt window should appear with the prompt, "C:windowsdesktop". For Win98/ME or Win2K/XP/Vista, type the following three DOS commands, one at a time, hitting Enter between each command, and waiting for the prompt to reappear: ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt tracert najena.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

I have spoken with the relevant people and they have explained to me that the 41780 error occurs when people try to connect through a VPN. I don't know how it recognizes or flags a certain connection/account as connecting from behind a VPN. It might allow a few connections using that method before blocking it outright. I can not say for sure. The only thing I can suggest is trying to connect from a different location or through a different ISP.

Basically, this error code is for any IP Address coming out of China and SOE is discriminating.I had this same issue with SWG, which I also played and was just automatically banned because of my IP address. It took me two months and a lot of emails to get back on. EQII is the same way.Why you guys have to sugar coat stuff and just not say that SOE's policy is there is too many gold farmers coming out of China, so we will just ban EVERYONE with an IP Address originating in China. Either put it in your TOS, or just say it like it is.
