So I have my monitor set to 60hz refresh rate, and I also have my game resolution set to 60hz refresh, but my screen still tears. I talk to other people who dont have "sync refresh" enabled and they don't notice it. I'm not sure if they aren't looking hard, or if it's just my monitor.

I really want to be able to turn "sync refresh" off in the options so my framerate isn't limited, but at the same time I dont want to see the sreen tearing. Is this possible? Thanks

If you have Vsync disabled and the game is processing more frames than the refresh rates allow then you will get some screen tearing, though. That's unavoidable without enabling vsync or increasing the refresh to a level beyond the amount of frames your graphics card is processing.

Ah, well my native resolution is 1680x1050 which I use for my desktop and in-game. But the other explanation makes a lot of sense, so I guess I will have to live with a FPS 60 or less :/

Thanks for the response!

PS - You would think that, by now, they would have technology that either compensates for this problem or uses a different method of refreshing altogether.

It isn't perfect, but it works alright in most cases. I'm definitely ready for the next technological advance, though!

Have you tried to turn on Triple Buffering? I turned it on in my game and all the tearing issues went away.
