View Full Version : Spell effects appearing in bad places

Since the last patch (didn't notice until today, but maybe since GU), some of my characters' spell effects are appearing in incorrect places inside the window. Sometimes they skip some spots, leaving empty holes, sometimes they're kinda "off", so they don't make a straight column, and sometimes they appear totally off the window, as you can see in this pic - note the little purple line that is an effect showing up mostly off the window:

I don't THINK this is on all my chars, but it's hard to know if I'm missing something on those with dozens of effects. However, deleting the bad UI file and loading a working char's UI does not fix the problem. Nor does telling the window "default location" and starting it over - it still does it.

Also, I'm not using a custom UI for this piece.

Oh, I should also mention, any interaction with the window fixes it temporarily - resizing, moving, or even alt-entering. But next spell I use, it happens again... sometimes. It's pretty random.

Edit: Just tried on a brand new UI setup (went on a char with no UI file and didn't import one) and it still did it. Here's another example:

Seems I get 8 working icons, then it goes wacky.

Greetings,

I just tested this on my end and I could not reproduce it. I got all the way up to 14 spell icons and even tried to mimic the size/shape of your spell effect window.

What happens when you use the /load_uisettings command? Does it give you the same issue? If so, you might want to petition the GMs to see if it could be an account based issue.

Well for a while I thought it was fixed by reinstalling all my ui bits, even though none are for that window, but it turns out its just not reliable - did it again yesterday. Does it with a clean ui settings, or if I load my main's. But it doesn't do it ON my main... maybe it stops happening after a certain # of spells? He's the only one with a lot.

Just wanted to be totally sure it wasn't any custom UI, so I deleted a char's uisettings, set my eq2.ini to load Default, plus deleted all the files in Default and repatched. And it still does it:

Generally like this, one floating out by itself, then another mostly off the window. Sometimes one will be just slightly out of line with the rest. I'll submit a bug with a link to this thread.

This happened to me last night, as well. Made a new character to visit a home on another server, loaded up my UI and saw this happening when I sprinted..I'm not sure which character's UI I chose, but I'll check around today and see if it happens again to any of them. I don't use any custom UI parts, it's all on the default. It also fixed it when I changed the shape of the window slightly.
